Trans will not shift out of first at WOT ?

Trans will not shift out of 1st grear at WOT if you take it real easy it will shift,so i removed the pan every thing looks clean. is that some thing that is a easy fix? Thanks

Seems to me your trans. needs to be built stronger I know a couple of guys who went through this last summer, as long as you are driving or cruising everything works fine but at WOT doesn't shift. Get with Brian Hofer

I had a similar thing happen and it turned out to be a bad 1st gear clutch band. On mine, a rivet was not brazed properly, causing the failure.

did you check the governor when you pulled the pan?

When it shifts out of 1st will it stay in 2nd with a bit more thottle? How about the 2-3 shft, how's that?

I have not checked the governor,could that cause it not to shift? if you let off gas then it will shift to 2nd then it will not shift to 3rd until you let off gas and then it takes a while in all grears.seems like the hotter it gets the less it wants to shift at all.

that was exactly my thought above... do a search here for "governor spring", has happened to quite a few people before...

Thanks for the great response, the spring was gone. thanks for the pictures i now have the problem fixed.the spring was wrapped around the speed o grear.
