i got a trans brake in my buick, have never used it. I am now looking to use it mostly track use.It is a stage right brake i quess they call it. So from what i understand need car in 1 and push button. Now do i hold button whole time and throttle up then let go when ready to leave.Or what i exacly need to do.Never had one so its probably a simple explanation for you guys.

THANKS IN ADVANCE GUYS

IIRC at a complete stop put the car in 1. Remove your foot from the brake and the car should feel like it is in gear but cant move. If so add some throttle(like 2500 rpm) then move the shifter to two or three. The car should snap forward. The more throttle, the more boost and rpm, the harder the kick!

ok so do i need to hold the button this whole time or just to initially arm it.

I'm pretty sure you press and hold it while doing the shifter thing.

Also did a search on google and came up with what it does. It engages the clutches in the tranny in such a way that it locks itself from going forward or in reverse. As long as you hold the button the car will be "trans braking", do the steps posted by the previous guy and then release the button when you are good to go.

With the Stage Right brake, the only time to hold the shifter button in is when placing the shifter into first gear. Then bring the car up in RPM to the desired launch RPM or boost, and bump the shifter into second or third gear. You may want to make certain that the shifter will stop in third gear, when installed there should have been a replacement shifter gate to limit the shifter from going into Over Drive unless the button on the shifter is depressed.

i have lighting rods and a seperate button,i guess i should have specified this first. It is a lil momentary cord deal button. Sorry for the confusion here guys

You don't have a stage right trans brake if you have a momentary switch its a electric brake the stage right is a manually controlled brake no buttons

on lonnies its an EA electronic brake , the solenoid is inside the pan

stage car in first gear foot on brake , hold trans brake button , take foot off brakes , pedal down build boost , let go of button, hold on!! and be ready to shift 1-2 (or 1-3) real soon

for those on stock shifter make sure you have a detent plate that will prevent accidentally bumping into N , lightning rods dont have that problem

i see you have the TR6. thats good , i personally wouldnt use that brake without some sort of a rev limiter . the 200r4 1st gear is very short and on alky it had better be an ignition limiter like theMSD dis4, bailey 2step or TR6 ignition. you do not want a chip limiter or the limiter in FAST orXFI too that cuts fuel as a rev limiter. the bailey is nice in that you can also use the 2step to limit RPM while building your launch boost and the timing retard to improve spool time

with the 200-r4 i actually like the manually activated stageright brake because you need to bump out of first to release the brake allowing 1st gear shifts automatically after you come off the tbrake, giving some time to shift 2-3. i would see 1-2 shift within 45feet of the line and would manually shift 2-3 around 300 feet

and i hope you have some improvents to the driveshaft and the rear because the transbrake will find the weak links

Okay thanks for clearing this up,not stage right electric, got it. Yes bought tr 6 last year, this year all umi uppers and lowers, adjustable rebound and compression shocks all four corners. And last week aluminum drivshaft,it was so hard not to use brake. But i didnt want to repair the floor when it launched it. Mosers and carrier were also done last year in prep for trans brake. So now with all this in want to try it off brake...... Thanks for the help guys ,i also red should bring rpms up before engafe to help with fluid temp,or pump. Is this agood idea also

the th400 griner electric brake works better with rpms raised before engaging

from lonnies instructions....

The transbrake install is now complete. When the transmission is full of
fluid and up to operating temperature we are ready to test the brake.
Place the transmission in manual 1st. Depress the transbrake button and load
the engine. The transbrake is not a toy. The converter will build heat
rapidly when you are using the transbrake. Limit times to 4 or 5 seconds. I
do not recommend stall testing but if you do stall test. Allow 3 or 4 minutes
of idle time to cool down the transmission before you shut off the engine.
To test transbrake speed you must load the engine and release.

Vool thanks again, now te vet ouy and try it a few times, before i track use it

I have a stage right and bang my ratchet shifter in 2nd once i see 15lbs of boost:D see sig pic:cool:
