looking at a transgo shift kit from summit..
$109

does anyone have this kit? how firmly does it shift? i am mostly concerned that it dosent shift too hard at part throddle.. can it be adjusted?

TransGo is the originator of the term "Shift Kit" and the only company that can legall sue that term...

Their Reprogramming kits for performance use generally have some range of adjustability for shift firmness.

I use TransGo exclusively in most trans I do.

Might check www.bulkpart.com for a cheaper price.

my transmission was fine until i had a transgo kit installed -- it really didnt do much for the shifting---- i had an art carr valve body kit in my ten second car and the shifts were like a rock--i have a milder gn now with a 44 turbo and 57 lb injectors-- it also shifts very firm 2-3 and 3-4

Trans go Kit

I have a brand new in the box Trans-go shift kit modified by Mike Kurtz from Century transmission (formerly PMAC) that I would sell to you for $45.00 + shipping, let me know.

what is modified on this kit? will how will it shift at part or light throddle? is it adjustable? lemme know... :D thanks

I was told that the Trans Go shift kit was marginal at best unless it was modified by Kurtz, he included his own instructions in the kit that was slightly different than the Trans Go instructions. I know Mike Kurtz has a good reputation for bullet proof transmissions, and he told me that this shift kit goes in every transmission that he builds for a 200r4. Supposedly light throttle=normal shift, over 1/2 throttle is firm shifts.

Let me know,

Jeff

Yep,
Probably not a bad deal.

Transgo is pretty good about decent part throttle manners but pretty firm under increasing throttle.

we4turbot... sounds like a deal... check you email.. give me your address and ill get a MO out to ya.

I have Kurtz modified Trans-Go kit in my trans. Install was a PITA as Mike uses a yellow marker to highlight changes he has made in ballpoint pen. The changes were unclear and written quickly. Try to get in touch with Mike after hours for help. Never use it again. Art Carr is best.

mitch - what was wrong with the Kurtz modified Trans-Go kit ? why did you scrap it? how did it shift? part throddle, medium.. full? thanks, Zach

Its still in the current trans. I was just saying that the Art Carr kit I installed in another GN I had was easier to install and shifts were better.

I'm running a TransGo in my 87 GN. It shifts firm on the low end and will not chirp tires. On high end it is weird acting. RPMs seem to rise a little at the point of shifting and then the shift takes a bit to transition through, sort of lazy and that's with a fresh rebuild, but no slippage. I'm assumimg it is an adjustment issue. BUT my TC is a no brand from a dude who rebuilds everyday car transmissions. Maybe it's a combination of both. I was in a hurry to get it back on the road and I think I am suffering as a result of it. As far as I know they are supossed to be very good kits. I also don't think mine is modified as mentioned by others.
