hello people; Where are you men and women mounting your translater? Where is the best place?
IBBY

make sure u mount it where water is not going to get in it...i mounted mine just in front of the powermaster, there is a bracket u can mount it to

hello people; I would emagine it would be best to keep the wires as shot as possible for max. voltage. But do you think long wires could cause a problem?
I just thought of trunk mount bats. I think I have an answer. But there will be voltage drop.

I didn't mount mine personally but it came in the center console.

hello; I guess it was put there to adjust it from the inside the car. But how lazy can you be. I don't have one yet but I'd like to put it in a place in the engine area.
Tell me have you messed with it at all? I think if you want perfect tune all the time you would have too. But if it's running good with the adjustment that is there why touch it.

It's really a matter of personal preference. Mine has been in place under the hood and untouched for eight years.

Well when I first got the car I constantly changed the spark advance or AF ratio but this was mainly because the previous owner had it set up for 93 octane and where I lived at the time only had one gas station with 93 then a couple with 92 and the majority with 91 so I was always tweaking depending on where I went for gas. But now after I do some retuning with the car I don't foresee myself touching it.

Translator Mount Location

Sorry guys, but I couldn't resist:

I've got mine stored in the glove compartment. Easy to get to should you need to make any adjustments on the fly!

LOL

hello people; DavPar I see you have a 85mm MAF sensor does that convert to 3.5"? If so did you get that offset IACV housing?

IAC Angle Boss

The 85mm MAF sensor needs a 3.75" to 3.5" silicone reducer to fit properly going onto my 3.5" MAF pipe. Don't have the angled IAC adapter....it's a tight fit with the 3.5" hard MAF pipe but does work. You'll definitely need one though if you go 4" on your MAF Pipe, but if you stay with the 3" MAF pipe stock will work fine. Think that I'll be going the IAC Angle Boss route on my set up this winter.

hello; I see you got the gen. 2 translater. I was thinking of getting the one specifically for our cars. I guess not as fancy but I wonder where the adjustments are on it. I can't get thru to talk to Full-Throttle as I would ask them direcly. But the gen. 2 looks like a nice pc. and I guess in the glove would work.

The basic translator has several dip switches located underneath the removable cover and has minimal adjustablility. Whereas, the GenII has much more adjustments available, timing, adding / removing fuel, etc and much much more...all of this over different rpm ranges. The GenII replaces their Translator + of a few years ago. You can use thei GenII in conjunction with Wide Band settings. All adjustments are on the face of the GenII using the keypad. Go to Full Throttle's website and read up .....also visit their support forums and read up to learn more.

Really not too difficult to set up and a breeze once you get over the initial learning curve.

However, if you just wanna plug in your translator and go (don't care about much adjustabilty), then I'd suggest you stay the course with FT's basic Translator.

hello people; I can't get thru to Full Throttle but tell me about how it's connected. I'am under the understanding that you just plug it into the MAF sensor and do what you want but it has to be conn. to the ECM also. Is that true?

For a quick and painless installation.....you could do what I did.....use Caspers Plug N Play harness....no cutting of any wires....and is a snap to install besides if you ever wanted to get rid of the GenII and go back to stock....(don't know why one would ever want to do this), then you could simply unplug this unit from your ECM and your off to the races.

Here's the info from FT's website:

The basic Translator is plug and play. One end of the harness plugs into the original MAF connector under the hood. The other end connects to the new MAF. Inside the box, there is a knob to tell the Translator what MAF you have (3" LT1, 3.5" LS1, or 85mm "Z06" MAF). If you do the 85mm MAF, then a small adapter plug is required.
If you go to my webstore, there is a section for MAF Translators.
Let me know if you need more info.

hello people; Thanks for the help on the tranlater. But speaking of MAF. Dailey Driver from BWR talked about a Cobault SS one that fits in the maf tube. That's sound pretty trick. I tried to find some info on it with no luck. Any one here heard of it or tried it. I do have to get back to DD but I just had to ask.
