Translator or Plus or with Ext. Chip ??

Gentlemen,
I'm contemplating taking the plunge and getting a Translator, I've got a buddy here locally who recently bought one and is pleased with the results. But there seems to be a few different ways to go: Translator, Translator Plus or 1 of the two with a extender chip. Based on my signature which combination do you all feel is best. Bear in mind that I would eventually like to run a TA-49 and perhaps a FMIC. I was thinking of the regular Translator with the Extender chip but I don't want to have regrets and wish I would hve bought the plus. Waht do you all think? Thanks for the inputs - BB

I needed to buy a Translator and 3" LT1 maf since my MAF wasnt calibrated correctly and wasnt allowing the car to run to its full potential. I opted for the regular Translator per the suggestion of Jack Cotton. My car is primarily a street driven car with maybe 5% track time. Jack told me to go with regular translator just for ease of use. Nothing hard about it. Just plugged it in, set the switches to where they needed to be and put the dial on the 3" LT1 setting. Car runs a million times better! Cant say how much better it idled and how much better my throttle response was. Well worth the time and money! Hope this helps a bit.

I may be wrong here but believe you would only need the extender chip if you get the plus. I am sure someone else will chime in here.

The benefit of the extender chip is being able to read past 255 grams of air per second up to 512 in case you're maxing out the stock maf. I run an extender chip with a regular translator. I do, however, plan to get a T+ in there in the relatively near future so I can also tune timing for the track.

Get the T+ and the Extender, buy once. The T+ is easy to use for tuning. You'll be happy!!

From you list you look like you have the parts to run really well. Might as well go with the T+, so that you can tune it to it's full potential.

Unless you want to get into doing your own chips, the extenders are well thought out, and work really well. Launch assist is just too much fun.......

I have the regulator Translator and run a Thrasher for now and love it. I didnt buy the plus because I am eventually going to get an ME. The car idles much better and is more responsive

The extender chip allows WOT fueling adjustments.

The translator + adds the timing control circuitry.

Get the + for added adjustability of tuning timing with the extender chip.

The beauty of having the T+ along with the Extender is never having to change chips again. You can turn one chip into a mild mannered street chip or a full on 118 race chip, or anything in between. Timing and fuel delivery are the keys that are changed to create a race chip from a street chip. And the T+/Extender combo do that nicely.
And with the Extener's ability to properly meter ALL the air you can suck into the engine, there's no more guesswork needed on the part of the chip hacker trying to get your race chip properly metering air.
No more Power Enrichment tables to muck around in, etc. all that stuff is moot when the air is properly measured, and the correct fuel can be delivered.
