Attn: QuickT, Transmission not shifting into 2nd gear

Me and my wife recently bought a 98 Trans Am with a Yank 4L70 transmission conversion. As some of you might know, the 4L70 is just a beefed up 200R and renamed a 4L70. It has a full manual reverse valve body, and a Yank Pro Thruster 4000 stall converter, with manual lock up.

We got the car home, drove it maybe 20 miles. My wife went out in the car and when she returned we noticed a slight burning plastic smell. We couldn't find any burning wires, and the smell went away quickly. When I took the car out to see if it still smelled, I noticed it would not engage 2nd gear. 1st gear works fine, no 2nd gear, 3rd and 4th gear work fine. When downshifting from 3rd to 2nd, the car is actually in 1st gear.

any suggestions, possible causes, and possible fixes ?

We know you Turbo Buick guys have gone through the ins and outs of this transmission. any help is greatly appreciated.

Pose this question directly to Lonnie Diers or "Quickt" On the board. If not, Call Mike at Yank....

Thanks, I have Mike's number, and some guy named Ray from Performance Built Automatic (or something like that) that supposedly builds the trannys for Mike. I'm calling them tomorrow. Just figured I'd throw this out for the TR guys who've been around a 2004r.

thanks :)

With some of the Rev. Man VBs they have slight bind at the 1-2 and will smoke the band. It sounds to me like a broke anchor pin or the band is smoked. I would like to talk to you more about your problem. Give me a call at the number listed below.
