transmission problems

I drove the car today, and the TV cable setting is allowing a good shift from 1-2 but after that it dont want to shift into 3rd. With me being easy on it, it got up to redline, and did not shift. So i readjusted the cable and it shifted into 3rd up into the rpm band, but it did not redline.
Have any of you guys ever had this problem? If so can you please, please help me solve this problem? Also how much do you think it would cost for someone at a transmission shop to find out what it is and how much do you think he would charge to fix the problem?

none of this was at WOT, i was just driving like normal.
This is really making me want to sell the GN, b/c i dont have the time right now to try and worry about the trans. I want to get this fixed.

Please keep us posted as to what you find out. I replaced my TC lock up solenoid and everything was fine. Parked the car for a few weeks, got it out and went for a drive. As I was getting on the highway I got on it. 1-2 was fine but 2-3 it didn't want to hit 3rd unless I let off the gas. Normal driving is fine. Even if I shift manually it's ok but not firm like it used to be. Can't imagine it broke sitting in the garage. I think I will try the cable like you did and see if that helps me.
