when you get on it the car pulls really hard when just in normal drive then it kinda throws itself into second violently it almost feels like it need to throw itself forward to get itself in second or chug itself there when your really on it i recently purchased this car 3 weeks ago. the seller told me it has a rebuilt transmission a couple years back with heavy duty plates and gearing in it. could this be causing it. and im doubting the tranny fluid had been changed in it since it was rebuilt not sure thought, just wondering if you guys have any input on this thanks. and it only shifts this way if your on it normal driving it shifts smooth as butter.

Try adjusting the Half Moon push button TV cable bracket on the Top Driverside throttle body on the engine, Thats the tranny shift point adjustment.

mine was about 5-6 of the cables knotches out..every cars differant though, you can push it the the in then go in the car an Stab the gas for a default setting.

Enjoy!

Could be the tv valve stuck also. With the car off floor and release the gas pedal quickly several times in a row.
Tv cable should only be adjusted 2-3 clicks typically outside of that and the shifts get quick and soft which is bad juju.

Engine off, squeeze the button then you open the throttle body all the way to WOT then slide the cable back as far as it will go towards the fire wall while at WOT. let go button.

Yeah my typing sux.

The TV valve is in the trans and could be binding.
So to release it...
Shut engine off...key off.
Floor and release throttle several times.....releasing pedal very quickly
This action will help free the valve that may be binding

okay i did this for both of your advice now it seems the thorottle cable is shorter and the end of the throttle cable now has slack in it and is hanging out of the end and not tight...hmmmmm i gotta figure this out now

As described.....for adjustment....halfmoon tab on TV cable pressed in......push inner cable in toward firewall...release tab.....grab throttle and go WOT and you will hear TV cable click out to adjustment.

You adjust 2-3 clicks from there max, sometimes it will click out a lil to far and you may need to tighten it up a lil.

The adjustment is pretty much dead nuts when the throttle bracket bends slightly at WOT.

My stomp and release the pedal to free up TV valve deal has nothing to do with the adjustment.

k i understand now i was adjusting it wrong i was pulling on the cable instead of pushing thanks

Go for a test ride after,Might take a couple,Get it the way you prefur,But now you know how to change shift points an firmness on GN, 8^)

Enjoy!

k GUYS i took another picture i used your method to default it, i pulled the cable all the way back towards the firewall then stab at the gas pedal and this is where it defaulted which seems weird to me, cause none of the notches are showing. there is alot of aftermarkt stuff ont his car that i didnt install so i have no idea if theres a diffrence. heres a picture its extremly high res so you shoujld beable to see. thanks again

also seems to be pulling strong and shifting strong...you can feel it power into the next gear here. let me know if you think this is wrong.

I tried that with mine but it wouldn't click to adjust. That's when i did the WOT method by hand.

i hear ya evil but with the WOT method when do you need to stop pulling/pushing on it? thats the part that was getting me cause it stops but then you can get pushing it etc

How i've been told is
you press the button
hold the TB wide open
then push the cable back towards the fire wall until it doesn't go anymore.
release button.
Done.

It works for me.

sounds like your cable may be stretched or too long...the amount of lines showing on the cable will vary because of these reasons..it's usually best to baseline by pushing the "D" in, pushing the cable all the way toward the firewall, then using the gas pedal pushed to the floor..that way you'll get the setting how it's going to react from in the car....then adjust from there...pull it out more for shorter softer shifts, push it in more for longer harder shifts...sometimes you have to put a drywall screw in the hole in the "D" just far enough to touch the outer sheath to hold adjustment if you're in past a certain point...

The cable looks possibly un hooked on the trans side.

Unhook the cable off the throttle. Does the cable move in and out freely or does it feel like there's a spring on the other end?

it feels like theres a spring ive already moved it around the picture i took is when i moved it all the way back to the firewall and stomped on it, thats where it defaulted too
