The other day my father in laws 2002 Chrysler 300m was stolen. Can cars with transponder keys be stolen from the average person. Is there any way to start and keep a transponder car running? Maybe some little black box? I know a tow truck could have taken it, but then it is off to a chop shop which is bad news. Why would someone want such a car anyway. Why not take something more valuable?

Anyone that had access to the key could have reproduced it. It happenned to my son's custom S-10 truck. He took it in for tires and it was ripped off not long after. They have your address on the repair order.

Used to be, perps would write down the VIN off the dash, take that number to a dealer, and have a new key cut...
