I got an 84 t-type that came from the factory with chrome trim. Its seems like all I see are cars with the blacked out trim. Im relatively new to turbo buicks so could someone shed some light on this for me. Which cars had the blackout and which ones came with the chrome? thanks

What pieces are chrome? The only chrome on a 84 T-Type should be the bumpers and the front side marker lamps.

I had an 84 t type, all the trim was chrome/stainless. Just like a regular regal.

everything that should be black is chrome, ie: all window trim, door trim and the headlight bezels, wheel well mouldings and bumpers. i know its a factory turbo car too. I was just wondering how many of these they made and which models its was on.

nobody else knows? or is this too obvious and im missing something? thanks

I have a 84 wh1 designer t-type and the trim is flat black, wheel welds, hood trim, window sweeps, headlight bezels...came from the factory that way.

Yeah, It sounds like someone replaced all of your moldings with standard Regal parts. Double check your codes on the SPID label on the trunk lid. If you have a legit 84 T-Type than there will be a lot of codes starting with the letter "B". No SPID label than like I said "someone hung the wrong parts on your car" and it didn't roll of the assembly line with chrome either. These cars have been out on the road for 20 years now. Anything special from the factory and it would have been published in any of the facts and figures book.

it is a legit turbo car, according to the vin unless they put the turbo motor in other regals and i dont think some one replaced the drip rails on it. I ve seen a couple 87's like this but nothing older. thanks

The 1987 TR's are the only exceptions. You could get a Turbo-T or Limited with the chrome moldings. All 1984-1986 T-types got the black moldings. Even the WH-1 designers. Check your SPID label on the trunk lid. BX5 is the code for black drip rails. No SPID label. Check the rivets on your VIN tag. Your car may have been retubbed or retagged.

it does have the bx5 on the trunk label, but looking at the vin it appears to have never been off/switched and the body mounts dont look like they've ever been off either. the only thing i can think is there was a screw up and because the car is originally black and maybe someone didn't want a cheap GN look a like. oh well guess i wont know what realy happened. She's going on ebay tonight anyway. just aint got the time for it.
