Triple Pillar guage pod

If you use your existing pillar pod, you won't see any wires and also it will give an wrap around illusion. If you see my thread, all of my wires are running inside the existing pod, down inside the dashboard then out through the existing firewall wiring.

You mean you left your a pillar trim on and then used the triple pod we are talking about it? I have to do something and i really dont want to make my car look worse by putting money into it.

You can't make matter worst if you put money into your own personal ride, unless if you like throwing your money away. So far looking into your profile, you invested some good money improving the performance. You don't have to spent extra money if you have your existing pod and place the triple pillar pod over it and it will look like it was made for your car. I think everyone will agree; it's your car spend your money on what you think is best.

It really looks like cr*p. It stopped me in my tracks and I haven't found another solution. I thought about cementing the triple pod to a factory no-pod pillar trim, so the wires would be hidden. Do you think that would work?

Is the double pod any better?

In mocking mine up, I found that the pod can be made to conform to the original A pliiar trim if you manipulate it enough, but the inherent design flaw is there is no lip on the door side of the pod, just a flat (ok, wavy) edge. I thought about glue, or maybe pop rivets, but then I wouldn't be able to get back into it for servicing the gauges if needed. It's a shame no one makes a quality pod, the gauge location is near perfect for line of sight. Anyone have the double pod?

Instead of using mechanical means (screws, clips, etc) to hold it down to help it conform more closely to the pillars lines / contours, why not use a heat gun on it to form it to the same contours?

As a precaution, you may want to remove the gauges and wiring first though (dont want these to be damaged from the heat).

You can cool the hot / warm thermoplastic down with a wet rag to help it hold its new shape.

WOW! Am I glad I stopped in to this thread. I 'm about to add gauges to my car and have done my research, I thought.
Looked at the double/triple pods screwd onto the original and did not like the look of them. Even bought one. Also, why damage the original trim?
Next I looked at the pod that fits on the console. Hate to give up the bpocket where I have my garage door opener, spare change and miscleny.
Looked at the triple that goes on the dash panel, pass. side, but the gauges seem too far to read comfortably.
Next I looked at the covered pad that gets mounted by the dash display, in between the A/C vent. That was it, I thought. It looks neat and original. But NO, my friend who is a GN expert tells me that setup inteferes with the A/C. That wont do in Florida. What is left? The overhead pod for T-Tops.
Overhead pod looks neat but wiring it in might be problematic, especially with runnimng the tubing.
My last option is an alum. pod that mounts in the console space and allows space for the change/misc. pocket. Anyone have anything else to offer.

Got mine from seturbo.com and unless the quality has dropped over the last couple years, I am very happy with the look of my two gauge unit. Much nicer than having one stuck or screwed to the original A pillar piece.

Why doesn't someone (mainly one of the vendors) talk to Danko about making the gauge pods. I've heard alot of positive stuff about all the other stuff they make for our cars and they make so many new products I don't see why they might not take a chance since it looks like they do they're work in house. Either way if we can get someone else to throw their hat in the ring with these it might atleast scare Lotek enough to have them step up and make the pods the was they need to be made. I mean these fit all g-body cars and theres enough of them out there that they wouldn't be limited to just Buicks.

In my old T-type I wrapped the 3 gauge lo-tech pod over the factory A-pillar it took some work but it came out nice. I don't have many pics of it but you can kind of see it here

I bought a dual pod and a single pod from jegs, trimmed the ends to sit flush with one another. They are not a full pillar replacement like the lotek's just a gauge pod. The dual pod is maybe 6"-8" single is probably 6". They are not an exact fit but are very sturdy and cover more of the piller than the lotek pieces. I used 3M 2 sided tape to mount them and have never come off. They do have the holes in place to mount them but I didnt want to make more holes in the original pillar.

Just out of curiosity, those of you that are running the Lotek pod, how did you get the gauge wiring behind the factory A pillar piece? I have the pod that Scot sells. It's a very nice, hand made piece. First rate craftsmanship. However, one has to look down to see it. I'm thinking a boost and fuel pressure in the line of sight would be better.

I have a 2 pod pillar gauge setup and it is the wrap over the top type but I must say it fits a lot nicer than the 3 pod setups I've been seeing. Doesn't look to be as flexible and a lot straighter too.

Can you post a couple pics of that. I have a single already and considering that the triple is a waste I was thinking of getting a douple and just lap them a little. I'd like to see it.

Been away for a while with some serious issues....saw this thread tonight and.......go with Scot's gauge pod, Dustin, you can't go wrong with them. I was among the first of the guys here who placed their orders with Scot when he first developed them....I've been blown away by the perfection and precision of his gauge pod......best investment for my gauges I've ever made....

Scot's gauge pod is like he says, eye level, out of the way, but with me..very easy to see and read. Fits perfect, real tight, plenty of room to run your wires for hook-up. You can get them in most interior colors.

Everyone who bought these gauge holders SCREAMEDabout how nice and perfect they are. For the location you can't beat it. Scot even did modifications for a member here on the board due to a fit problem caused by the guy's other installed instruments, if I remember correctly. He's THAT serious about helping out with us. A very honest, caring individual. I love the guy!

Take it from me, Dustin, you'll be tickled pink with Scot's gauge holder for your Grand National. Looks just great, easy to put in. Scot includes the extra screw for mounting and directions (like for old guys like me, duh)

Like I said, been away, but back for a while, hopefully. Give Scot a call on this gauge holder and forget about that damn pillar gauge set.....those things cause more trouble than they are worth (Only my opinion) Plus, they draw extra attention and can be easily ripped off if you leave your window open.

I've got Scot's gauge holder for my gauges and I've been just beside myself with satisfaction. Slickest idea since the invention of the V8:biggrin:

Well, I just got the Lotek 3 gauge pod a few days ago, but haven't had a chance to install. Mine already had the 2 gauge pod that screws over the factory trim. Might try to install the 3 gauge pod over the factory trim since someone already drilled about a 1/2" hole in the factory trim to run the wires through. I was hoping this was gonna be easy and look good....

I have the 3 pod from gbody and ran into this issue when doing the install. I went to the junk yard and pulled an extra stock A-pillar molding and set the original aside. Cut a slot down the middle of the spare molding for the wires/boost line and then installed the pod over the factory molding. I also had to trim up the top to fit my t-tops. I thought it came out looking good. Can't beat the locaton as far line of site for gauges. Can't see any wires and in the door jam I don't have that ugly gap between the 2 pieces.
