Any members here among the TR's at Englishtown on friday night?
Including my white T Type I counted 6 TR's there: 3 Grand Nationals, 2 white T Types, and a blue Limited. Saw some other regals there but they looked like V8's.
Two of the grand nationals and the white T Type were pretty stock at low boost and ran in the 14's due to poor launch on regular tires. Mph's were good enough for high 13's though. The other grand national had a bigger turbo and modded engine but wasn't running much boost and I think turned a best of 13.0. Probably at least a mid 11 sec car with high boost and a good launch. I don't know if the Limited ran.
Talked to most of the guys and they seemed like nice guys. Hope to meet up with them again.
I ran my best time in my T Type, a 12.4. I didn't change anything since my last time at the track (posted in the drag racing forum) except switch the Nittos for my ET Streets.
I only did two runs because I got there late and didn't even give the car time to cool down, so I'm pretty happy. On the first run I had too much air in the tires and the car was a little hot but on the second run I lowered the air to about 17psi, did a little bigger burnout and had a good launch.
Full times are:
60' 1.70
1/8 7.85@88.0 mph
1/4 12.41@105.2 mph
I launched at @8lbs boost and it felt good and the front end got a little light and I had to correct the steering a good bit for the first time
I only picked up 17mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4 so I'll have to see whats up. Might need more fuel pressure for my small injectors. Being hot probably cost a couple mph too.
This was at a little less than 21lbs boost (I actually peeked at it during the run for once taking my eyes away from the track and the knock gauge). Running a 100 Octane chip with mostly 100 octane UL with some 116 mixed in to be safe. Next time I want to try about 22.5lbs boost.
Might be time to start thinking about upgrading the rear sway bar and control arms because I'm sure the car will only take so many of these hard launches. I have new rear springs, shocks, and airbags. I want to try a 15lb launch
The ET Streets feel so much better than the Nittos and I'll probably lower them to 15psi next time and shoot for some 1.6x 60 foots.
Figure I should be able to get down to a 12.1 before stepping up to a full race chip or maybe getting some bigger injectors.
Anyway, good to see some fellow TR's at the track.
