im here at work talking to my boss, who happens to be a former General manager for a chevy dealership. So he tells me today. so ray is your car inter-cooled or hot-air. i told him hot air. he said then looks like the summer time is right up your ally. i said what you mean. he said that the inter-cooled cars run really crapy in the summer. and that the hot airs run really good. and in the winter the inter-cooled run really great and the hot airs run like crap. so is this TRUE OR FALSE.

I'm sure he was thinking the intercooler would get heat soaked but still would be cooler then our setup even with a lil heatsoak. Add a little alky and throw some dirt on it while your at it:cool:

yea right.... lol... he is a ass. hes a vett guy. with 81 sting ray parked out there... lol... nice car. but we know the gn is that cars nightmare. i told him lil v6 came stock with 235 hp. and i looked it up on a site to prove it. he was like no they come 200hp. and i said the 84 not the 85. besides my work would eat your vett up... lol... he dont wanna run me...

Yes, they were rated at 200hp but Test have proven about 230-240ish. The IC TRs were rated at 245 but really pushed closer to 275 I believe. Same goes for the GNX it pushed much more then what it was rated. Stock vs stock I would go with the GN(TR). Just dont try to take a turn like a vette at high speeds tho without any upgrades.

yea thats right... slide out city.... so i was right then my car stock back in 85 had 230ish hp. like i thought with the work it has now the injectors, straight pipe, ta 33 turbo, tt chip
and magnaflow exhuast. i have yet to dyno it. but i know the exhuast has to go. i was told that magnaflow is not very good. though i could be wrong....

hey man do they make a turbo shield for our cars. or is it just for the inter-cooled guys only... i wanna dress it up under the hood. was searching online to see if they make them and had no luck find any...

The ustom heat shiels were sold by TR Custom here on the board. Unfortunately, they are no longer made. If you find one, post up were they can be purchased. Thanks- Brad

DEI 010141 T3 Titanium Turbo Shield Kit

We do have a "heat sheild" its very small tho, most don't even notice it or it's gone. Like brad said they use to sell them no more tho. They are pretty easy to make tho, I'm talking stock style. which is nothing more then a plate with a few bends and holes drilled through to screw into the hood.

These is were we come to a custom or universal Wrap or sheild, with a little modding it can fit perfect. I like the Titanium stuff better, you don't have to coat it with slicone.

Also for dressing up, I'm not into chrome for my TR. I'm using high heat primer and engine enamel to dress my engine up. I'm gonna go with Black & sliver semi gloss to mostly everything.

I would agree on that being false..... What did catch my eye though is that the 85 came with 230-240 hp? Isn't the 84-85 rated at 200 hp and the 86/87 rated at around 240-245? I know those are just numbers and not the actual test proven hp but aren't 84/85s the same?
