Ok this is not b.s my father bought a set of angle port heads for a DZ302 brand new in late 69 to put on a 327 he had at the time it never happened they stayed new wrapped in plastic sitting in the garage for 19-20 years we moved and he sold allot of stuff. Just last weekend we were moving some stuff into the attic of the new garage(now 18yrs old) and I see these heads sitting there. He said huh.. I thought I sold them years ago. sure enough they are brand new never assembled angle port 302 heads stock equipment on the hipo dz 302 only. He says go ahead and sell them its been 39 yrs and I have not used them. my other option is to put them on my 57 conv that was his first car. I am restoring it (sitting since 1972)and hopefully be done soon enough for his 65th b-day I am going to give him the keys and $2-3,000 dollars and say go have a good time. He always talked of redoing it and driving the old 66 route for fun. (however 5 kids and your own repair shop leaves no time for yourself)I think it would be a awesome surprise to repay him for giving up allot for us kids.

They are worth what someone will pay. Who knows?? Slap them on fleecebay and make a killing!!

Back in 04, I bought a 70 SS Chevelle that had '67 rectangle port heads that were the correct castings for 66-67 425/435 hp 427 Vettes. I pulled those heads off and sold them for $2400 on Ebay, and that is no B.S.! I had several "knowledgable" people tell me they wouldn't bring $500. Throw them on Ebay with a good description and pictures and see what happens.

i seen a nos cross ram intake setup for a 69 z/28 bring a little over $10,000 on ebay
put em on there with a high reserve and see what they do

I would not put them on the 57. I am sure someone out there is looking for them and willing to pay you good $$. When you sell them you can pick up a nice set of aftermarket heads that might just out perform them! Toss them on ebay and hopefully they bring some good money!

69Z-28/s did not come with angle port heads. The angle port heads weren't released until 71 or 72. If they are angle port, they are a very desireable set of heads to have, though.

numbers on the heads

thats what i thinking too. the last 3 numbers are prob 292.

If they are 492's they are about the same as the 2.02/1.60 double hump heads performance wise. They are thin wall castings not good for porting. The 292's are a more preferred 'performance' head. You can hog them out more.

Both are over the counter heads. Being brand new and having a nostalgic value they should go for a grand or more. You can get a set of aluminums that way outperform them, but a lot of people want to run factory chevy heads on their vintage vehicle...and don't forget the roundy round guys running in stock class. ;)

Oh yeah, If you do use them make sure you get headers that fit angle plugs.

I will research them more but my dad still has the reciept from duncannon chevrolet in pa these were 275.00 in aug of 1969 pretty expensive. He said these were the ones they used on the hi po Sb cars they upfitted for many racers back then. he said they are 302 heads but I will let you all know, I posted the # on the 1st gen forum.

What casting are they? 186?

They probably would bring good money if sold.

But if dad no longer cares about all out performance, I'd go ahead and use them. At least at car shows/cruise nights and such he could tell a story of "how I bought those new in '69 and never used them until now".

But if you're planning on making the engine they're going on a high performance engine, then you'd be miles ahead to sell them and buy some newer heads, since any of today's heads surpasses anything from the 60's.

And yes I agree you building a car for dad to repay him is a good thing, although you can never repay a good parent back enough for all they've done for you.

be sure to post a link to your auction so we can follow this. Good luck. I hope they bring a bunch!

Funny, I had a DZ302 intake from a 69 Camaro....I couldnt sell it for $200 at every swap meet I drug it to. Finally sold it for 100 10-12 yrs ago. Now its worth what?
