Anyone had this problem? I have tried spraying silicone spray in every possible moving part where the decklid is connected .....to no avail.

I don't really see any way of easily removing it to find the problem. This is really bugging me, but I've had worse problems...

Any advice is appreciated

Chris

No past prob here, but curious...how did you determine the squeak is directly connected to the deck lid?

I had a squeak coming from the rear. It also sounded like it was coming from the trunk. The cure was to tighten up the #7 body mounts. Some where along the line they had become loose. I also snugged the #6 up too although they were not as loose as #7.

Check your trunk stops.... Mine was making a noise, I replaced tham and no noise

Weird, I know......

Well, the noise is only when I open and close the trunk, not while driving. That kind of knocks out the spare tire, and the bushings etc.

It sounds like it is definitely coming from friction somewhere where the decklid connects. They are not simple "nut and bolt" connections, otherwise I would have simply taken them apart.

I'll have my buddy lookat it while he is putting in new valve springs while I am on vacation:D He works at a GM dealer maybe he can figure it out.

I just went thru this.. Get a flash light and a can of WD40 and get in the trunk and close the lid. Not all the way of course but close it as much as you can. The squeak is way up in the hinge. Or the big U looking bar that connects the lid with the car. You'll be able to see up in there where the metal it touching and making the squeak. I wanted to put some grease up in there but it's really hard to reach. A can of WD40 with a straw will quiet it right up when you see where the metal touches!

Mine does the same thing. 24,000 miles on it. Drives me crazy, did the hunting it down with the WD-40 trick and sprayed everything I thought it would be and it still does it. Have learned to get used to it.:(

Thanks philly turbo 6......I got some odd looks from the neighbors as I was getting in and out of the trunk....;)

LOL nice! My neighbor thought I was nuts also. Because of the fact he could hear me open and close my trunk in his house from the squeak he was happy I found and fixed it! :)
Mark it works! Just get in that trunk and look up that bar that connects to the trunk lid and you'll see right where the metal hits and the squeak comes from!

Had same problem also.4,502 ORG.GN.
Did what was already said.

Trust me.These guys are right........HTH'ed

Same squeak here, sprayed everything in sight and it still does it. I wondered if the tension on the rods had something to do with it. I also notice that my trunk lid has shifted to one side. The gap on one side of the trunk is significantly bigger than the other. I had the squeak before the shift, so they may be totally unrelated, but I wondered if the shift was the result of something wearing out or mis-aligned that caused the squeak.

Frustrating, hugh?

Well our Buicks where never made for fit and finish:eek:

I spray my trunk once a month to keep that dam squeak away.
