Trying to adjust parameters on Scanmaster wont let me..

i connected the scanmaster to powerlogger and i also connect the lc1 wideband everything works but im deciding to hold off on the alky..i want to adjust my timing bring timing down to about 17 degrees safe for pump gas 93 when i turn switch over to ign everything turns on just fine but when i try to scroll over the scanmaster just starts going thru a cycle of numbers very rapidly...why cant i adjust my timing/fuel with the scanmaster? i dont have a laptop connected because i have a macbook pro i need to purchase xp to run the pl thru laptop...shouldn't i be able to adjust chip thru scanmaster manually with the 3 gas pedals scroll over and adjust from there?

Chris's read the tt directions. And if possible try not to make wholesale changes . It makes troubleshooting easier.

no instructions but i got it going messed up when i realized the wideband chip is alot different than a regular chip..i was adjusting things i wasnt supposed to it's ok..i can disco the orange wire and reset to original parameters im going to just wait till i download xp for the macbook then start messing with it..
