Funny you say that. The GSCA's reasoning behind disallowing the ported shrouds (in every Turbo Heads Up class), is partially based on trying to stop uncontrolled spending. The TSM rules have been FINAL since last November/December. The fact that a new turbo came out that fits the TSM rules, is a new fact. I'm allowing the turbo, the GSCA is not. The GSCA Nationals is their race, not mine. [/B]

Hmmm, does that mean that the "Nats" will no longer be in the points series?....

I think Scott is doing a great job with the class & the rules, but I am not too sure on letting this new turbo in to the mix. If Dave & others are going into the 9's already with the std 70, sounds like the blocks are going to be subjected to some more "internal carnage". Hope this won't put a damper on the fast guys in the class.

As for worrying about having enough money to keep up with the "jones's" (or Bamford's in this case :) ), it isn't always the fastest who wins. It's often the guy who can get to all events, run decently, and keep it together all year, especially in the heat. If I had a mid 10 sec ride, I wouldn't give it a second thought. I would be in the class in a heart beat! Should make it interesting for '04 :)

As for the TSE guys (rule makers), guess they better allow bigger turbo's to keep up :) It's all fun!

You are so correct on that ;)

As I stated last year, the new TA heads are legal now for the POINT SERIES...they're just not available. The deadline for product releases applies to turbos, turbos and turbos - but not necessarily in that order :D And note, my comments are directed at the TSM Point Series and not any one specific race in particular.

And, what is the precise definition and/or criteria for actual accomplishment of "product release"?
TIA! :)
IMO, this means that the turbo (again, the "product release" applies to turbos) must be commercially available to the TR world on or before December 1 of the year prior to a race season.

At the GSCA Nationals earlier this year, I had a phone conversation with Harry Hruska concerning the PT-70GTQ subsequent to finding one on Mr. Bamford's car. My point was that the turbo hadn't been available to the "TR world" until the Wednesday of the Nats when he brought the first 3 examples of this new model...not exactly "commercially available" to anyone IMO.:(

Harry's point was that the "new" housings had been run for the last few years on import cars with big turbos.

Personally, I don't care about what parts were available to the import racers. I am interested in what is commercially available to the turbo Buick racers. Unfortunately, this means the turbo needs to be available from PT&E, Limit Engineering and/or Innovative Turbo - the TR vendors that make up the vast majority of turbos sold to the TR group. Now that you can get this new turbo/housing prior to December 31, 2003 it is legal in the TSM Point Series beginning in 2004.

Um, yeah. Keith has been doing quite well in TSM this year with his mid-10sec car.

That would be a negatory. The GSCA Nationals will always be the premier event where the TSM Point Series is run.

Thanks for the kind words Paul! Several of the guys in TSM are running this year with the GT Q-trim wheels in the "standard housings". I cannot police wheels. As I have already stated, the power in the new 70-GTQ turbos comes mainly from the wheels, not the housing.

Yep! Last year I did not finish any better than 3rd place at any event but took home the 3rd place TSM Point Series cuz I went to all the races (and collected points from my 3 best showings.)

Thanks again to Paul Ferry's HRpartsNstuff for offering contingency prizes to TSM cars equipped with his suspension components. :)
