TSS Results...What happened?

I know Red won in Jane's car, but don't know anything about the times this class laid down. Can't seem to find results anywhere...

I think there was 3 cars and Red had the Bye. Both the other cars redlighted and he won by default. Have no idea about the times.

Since both semi-final cars red-lighted and were DQ'ed, Red would have won be defalt. Both cars ran again for second place and Red agreed to run the winner for class.

In the final round, Red had a 10.49 @ 131 MPH against Scott Coleman whose TSS car had a problem on this run.

Nick is correct. I did have a problem. Blew off i/c hose clamp in 2nd gear. Not that big of a deal, since I didn't have anything for Red, anyway.

Red qualified #1 with around a 10.4, Kip Asplund was #2 at 10.75, I was #3 with 10.78,.....can't recall the rest, exactly. The spread was 10.4 to 11.5, or so, with 6 cars in the class. Car count was down this year. Jeff Sparks and Dusty Bradford sold their cars. The Hogan's bracket raced their car. And we broke Michael Cross's car earlier in the week.

I did run new best times and brought the car home in one piece. I went 10.66 at 125+ earlier in the week. I backed it off a tad and went back to back 10.78s. The same i/c hose clamp came off in the traps on the 10.66 pass, and I didn't have one of my best 60' times on the pass, either. I'll always wonder if it could have been a 10.5 pass or if the grenade would have gone off.

For those of you who aren't aware, Scott's engine is 100% Stock.

It only took eight years for someone to overtake Stockwell... Awesome, Scott. I think you officially hold the #1 spot now.

It's not 100% stock........... I have changed the valve springs about 10 years ago. Race weight was 3540. Temps were mid 80s with 100% humidity.

I would like to know if anyone has gone this fast with a stock (minus valve springs) engine. If they have, I haven't heard about it.

Just a reminder "QuickWrench"..............

My car did not have a "Janis roller trans w/ Perf. Trans. 9/11 torque converter......" when I ran 10.76.............not only was my motor stock, but the transmission and converter as well...........not to take anything at all away from "stangbanger" at all, because he is doing something that is very difficult to do...................but it's not exactly "apples for apples"........

Both cars red-lighted at the same time as the computer did not record who fouled least. If one car had fouled after the tree was activated, that would show the offending car.

Both cars moved after both stage lights were on, but before the computer was started. This is easily confirmed as neither car had any data recorded.

We know that on the 10.76, Tim's boost gauge was buried, and he blew a HG. How much boost did you run to achieve the 10.66?

Based on what I've read on this board, I think there are a handful of TRs with "unopened" motors that have run 10's. Let's face it, it's neither easy, nor a recipe for longevity, so most guys never go that route, they get heads.

Still, when you look at the $$$ RA has in his car for 2-3 tenths, it makes you wonder???

strikeeagle, that is a very good question. I would like to know the answer as well!

Tim is correct, it's not apples to apples. There's too many variables to compare (combo, weight, weather, track conditions, etc...) I'll bet it wasn't mid to high 80s with 100% humidity when Tim went 10.76. I went 11 teens with the stock trans and converter, before the converter started going away. I didn't want to put a new converter in front of a trans that shouldn't be living at that power level, so I did the trans. I'm a "do it right the first time, and forget about it" guy, so I had Vince Janis build it. It's pretty much the same trans buildup he's got in his Stage II car, minus the trans brake.

My goal wasn't to beat Tim. It was to run 10s on the stock motor. Been doing that for the last 3 years, and driving it on the trailer.

I seen it plain as day. Scott Coleman turned on the redlight first.

You may be right, Lonnie. Kip said the same thing in the tower when we were discussing the rerun situation. Like I told Kip.......I can't argue the point as I was not looking at anything but my side of the tree.

I second that! This is also my goal, acheiving one of the fastest times for an unopened motor...... What is your secret
