just purchased TTA, it has been sitting for two years, i want to change all fluids, is the a better spark i should go with, air filters ect. any thing else i should check out before i start to really drive it around? thanks

Just make sure you replace the spark plugs with 89 tta spark plugs, the GN heads are different and definitely are shorter than the 1989 tta fwd head.

42LTS L as in Long or the 43Lts for stock heat range / ac delco

I would do a cross check for the v power ngk spark plugs, they really last a long time.

8 " k&n filter would wake up throttle responce

BW

..

all the fluids..
NGK TR5 plugs
Fuel filter
Fuel pump ever replaced???
Hotwire kit
Adj. chip from Mike Licht or Eric Marshall
Full Throttle sells the 8" K&N air filter if you have a aftermarket MAF pipe

here is the work that has been done to the car, as desribed for the seller

''Ok Now the car has some engine, computer, turbo mods done, This stuff was all done in 2004 by Hitech motorsports in Elk River Minnesota. The car dyno'd 428ftlbs and 411 hp on the 248 dynojet in April of 2008. Have Dyno sheet also.

Accel Gen 7 Stand alone computer, with knock control, torque conversion kit, and ac control,JE Pistons, reconditions factory rods with Arp Rod Bolts, Main Studs, Head bolts. Custom Hyd. Roller cam conversion, with iron gear, roller lifters. Stainless valves, 1.77/1.50, bronze guides, valve job. Gm performance rocker arms. Block was lined honed, decked, balenced rotating assm, dowel tru blelhousing dowel locations. Has a TE61 turbo charger with 3'' down pipe. 72lb injectors. 255 intank pump. Transmission has stock converter as far as i know but has a shift kit in it. Has 3'' exhaust into a flowmaster muffler and doesn't sound that bad. Has aftermarket front mount intercooler in stock location. Also comes with Factory Innercooler. The bill was 13800 for all the work done @ hitech minus the innercooler inwhich was done down south somewhere. Car has adjustable boost controller also, along with a High flow cat. I have a Detailed bill on the work done at hiteh motorsports''

the car has 26k on it and has been sitting since 4/08, i am having it shipped to me

Any Pix?

I also noticed you stated having a stock converter w/ a 61mm turbo. Unless the 61 has the Garrett housing, which prolly does not... might spool a little slow for your liking.

Congrats! Sounds like a great car.

im thinking of pulling the engine and sending it to ta performance come fall to checkout and maybe stroke. ill just cruise it untill then then but want it solid.and maybe the trans to ck or extreme

Why would someone put a Gen7 on a street car that makes 400 HP.

Good luck with it, you have a serious mismatch on the turbo and converter.. and computer decision that someone made on that car. I sit here shaking my head in the quiet

Start reading up on the Gen7 and its tuning. That will be your obstacle.

Next one will be transmission and rear end.. and finally.. there are no GM performance rocker arm. that was another lie :frown:

Is this the car off Ebay? I remember seeing this one on there I believe..the Hitech Motorsports rings a bell.

Wow, that's a wopper of an intercooler! How did they get it in there? Did they have to fabricate a special intercooler scoop? What kind of ItrClr is it? Car looks good. You have the makings of a real badaszz TTA!

yeah its the one that was on ebay, i dont know what kind f intcooler it is. i will let you know when i get the paper work. it should be to me by wendsday

I thought this car (assuming it's the ebay one i'm thinking of...) had a bottom-end noise the owner had described? any info on that being true or not from the owner?

yeah i plan on going thru everything i can when i first get the car. the ebay ad said it had a some engine noise. i call him and spoke with him about it. you can hear it at cold start up but deminishes when engine is warm. i didnt even pay reserve for the car. once i complained about shipping and having to have it gone thru as soon as i had. we came to a price i was more then happy to pay. i would have never bought it for what he was asking. the reason i bought this one was it was low miles 26k, already had work done to it. body and interior were excelent. if it would have been all stock i could have never brought myself to building it up. i would leave it stock because of its rarity and i would have never really enjoyed it. as for tuning my buddy who is our engineer for the company has worked with the gen7 before. i bought a laptop that will just be for the car. i am going to get everything sorted out before it starts terroizing the streets.

It may be in your best interest to drop the oil pan and have a peek around and make sure the bearings are ok before driving it alot...could save the motor if it's a worn bearing. The car looked like a very nice car in the ad and someone certainly dropped alot of coin on it..good luck and hopefully it's nothing major (and not bottom end related :) )

thanks, i think i might, i was just going to take it out and drive it from time to time, i am restoring my 10th anniversary trans am and sold my 96 t/a about the same time i start taking the 79 apart. i really miss going for a drive with the tees off on a summer night. i was thinking of pulling it and sending it to ta performance and have th 3.625 forged crank and rod put in it over the winter and having the heads p/p while it was being rebuit. then giving it hell come spring
