Well since I had the newly rebuilt motor and trans from my wrecked TTA #844, and it has JE's and a roller cam, and the original Buick motor had been in the Mazda since I did the conversion back in 2000, I figured I would do the swap. So far its been pretty straight forward except I need to make up a new downpipe, as the TA's exhaust manifolds flair out more and the cross over drops down lower. I was wondering since we have quite a few RX7 conversions running around now, if anyone has done one with the Trans Am motor.

Here are a few pics.

I have a stock 18k TTA motor sitting here as well .. I did think about using it but after Melissa ran 10.10 @ 132 with the motor I took out of mine I decided to put it back in the Mazda when her new motor is done  My only concern with the TTA was the right exhaust manifold and down pipe

My only concern with the TTA was the right exhaust manifold and down pipe

That is the only problem with the swap. The TTA exhaust manifolds make it a real tight fit, but I think I have it figured out.

Back when I did mine, I think I was the second or third RX7 conversion in the country so I had to kind of wing it and make my own mounts. They are different than the other ones people are using, but they have been working for over six years and the car was driven from Chicago to Las Vegas when I moved here, so I guess they are all right. I used a trans crossmember from Granny's, with the stock mount.

Here is a pic of the passenger mount behind the positive battery cable.

Told Ya. Key is, you have to re-locate the front cross brace. Then you can angle the rad and have plenty of room.
