TTA Rear end Vs 89 GTA Rear end

Are they the same rear?
They are both Borg Warner 9 bolt rears with 3.27 and rear disks.
I don't know of they are otherwise the same or not.

exact same, except the rear disks on a TTA are from the 1LE package and it's highly unlikely a GTA will have 1LE disks.

Actually, the rear disk brakes from an 89 TA/GTA are the same also. Pre 89 rear disk brakes are different. It is only the front brakes that are different in the TTA.

They are the same. Pontiac went to the 1LE rear brakes on 1989 and up GTA's because of problems with the Ebrakes loosing adjustment in the earlier design. Only the TTA got the 1LE front brakes.

89 is the year of the upgraded rear rotors for GTAs and TAs. I stand corrected.

10 bolt axles have 3.23 gears, while our 9 bolt axles have 3.27 gears. The GTA's and IROC-Z's could have a 10 or 9 bolt axle depending on the engine\trans combination. A friend of mine used to own an '89 GTA 5.0L TPI with a 5 speed, dual cats, and a 3.45 geared 9 bolt. It was a quick car for a GM 5.0L...

Both my -88 GTA and -89 GTA had 3.27 gears according to the RPO list.

The 3.23 rear gears were used on the 1990-1992 350 TPI GTA's. They used the 10 bolt axles. The 1987 to 1989 350 TPI GTA's used a 3.27 on the 9 bolt rear end.

The 87-89 305 5spd GTA's had the 3.45 rear gears and the 90-92 305 5spd GTA's had the 3.42 rear gears.

Yep, 89 was the last year for the BW 9 bolt. Then back to the 10 bolt in 90.
