Had a surging issue because of interference between the MAF translator and alky controller. Thanks to advice from other members on this board I was able to quickly get the issue fixed by purchasing a hotwire for the translator from alkycontrol. Now that I have it functioning, I would like to dial it in and make everything work at it's maximum potential.

Here are the main modifications to the 87 Turbo Regal:

LT1 MAF with translator and hotwire, 160 t-stat, SMC alky kit, Houston 3" Downpipe with Magnaflow Dual Exhaust, stock turbo and injectors, Billet adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Walbro 340 w/hotwire, K&N 9" cone filter, powerlogger, turbotweak 91 octane street chip timing at 20/18 for 1-2/3-4

Here are a few questions I have:

1. So I don't waste unnecessary amounts of denatured alcohol, what boost I should have the alky spray come on and what boost I should have it at max spray?

2. What should I set max boost at for a stock turbo & injectors?

3. Do I need to mess with the timing?

4. Any other parameters that I should consider adjusting?

Thanks in advance

What is your timing set to now? What boost can you run without the alky kit?

I would start it at 12-13psi, and crank it wide open. Maybe not the most experimental way of doing it, but you will end up there anyway once you get used to lotsa boost..
Turn the boost up to the point that it starts knocking a tiny bit in 3rd gear. Now back off the boost 1psi or so, and away you go. If you are getting no transitional knock (from a roll or in the lower gears) you can try upping the timing a little bit. If you are playing with timing, make sure you watch the knock, and or lower the boost a little just in case. I ended up having my SMC turn on around 15psi, and the knob turned to 10. Running 27 deg 1/2 and 25 3rd/4th.
