I bought a Power Logger. And Did a little tuning this yr before the track closed. But still new at it. I was just wondering could a car be fine tuned without dyno time if a person knew what he was doing. Or would it be better to spend $400 on a tune and dyno time. Tks John
 
With the tuning setup you have, are you able to adjust timing and fuel delivery while the car is operating on the dyno for a certain load / RPM? If you can, a load bearing chassis dyno would be ideal. The load bearing chassis dyno is the only way I know of to get instantaneous torque readings and hold the engine at a certain RPM and load.

It would be better to learn on a naturally aspirated car. But you can build yourself up to being ready to tune a forced induction car.

The tracks are closed in Georgia? Well you need to set some type of goals. Like I want the car to run 25 psi and tune it around that number. Once you get it correct at 17-18psi go for 22psi. Then 25psi, 28....and so on till it makes you content. Your butt dyno is somewhat useful until traction is an issue. Spinning all over the place isn't the goal, nor does it indicate you are making more power.
Would I pay $400 for a dyno tune no! That's the reason for the "user adjustable chip" I'd keep it simple till the track reopens. Get your wideband, fuel system, any leaks and logging stuff in order. AND READ THIS BOARDS TUNING TIPS! Don't go ask the Evolution/WRX/ Camaro/Cobra guys what to do. There is enough information that can be found in the search to open a successful Turbo Buick repair/upgrade shop.
