So I am trying to tune the alky in correctly using a FAST and WB.

Cal was nice enough to talk to me about this while being on hurricane watch at the same time.

Here is the combo.
Stock block, stroker crank, forged everything. Iron heads, ported and polished with LS1 valve springs. 212 cam. Liquid intercooler.
66 triple ball bearing turbo, 72 pph injectors, dual fuel pumps with a Hobbs switch and Razors alky.

So far I have been trying to get the car to run on pup gas only. I have played it safe with timing and AF ratios so far.

Here is the gct files and a data log run with pump gas only.

Here is the data log of a run. This is on a deserted stretch of road but you will get the idea.

At this point I was worried about hitting detonation so I turned on the alky at 4. Set points are from the factory.

Reggie, place knob on 6 and start the tuning. Watch for knock activity and keep air fuel at WOT target 10.5:1 to start. Then move it up latter to 10.8-11.0:1

Timing 18-20 degree's is a good start.

Razor thanks for the info.
I had the AF ratio at 11 on the top end. I can see where the alky comes in on the map. It runs 11 and then drops to 9.2 !! I lost about 3 psi with the alky coming on too. So it seems I have a lot of room to play with regarding boost.

I do have the timing at 20 on the top end and I will leave that alone.

I was trying to post gct and data logs on my first post here but I don't have Winzip to post them up.

I have the second pump kicking on at 12 psi. So the alky kicks on before the second pump does. And of course the volt booster is driving all of it at 80% throttle.

I had the car running on pump gas only before I turned on the alky. I was up to 15 psi but I did feel I would be popping head gaskets if I tried to turn up the boost any more.

I will post more results. I took out 10% from the fuel map to get the AF ratios back in line. I will be turning up the boost too.

Based on your info, I suggest you purchase the weldon in-line 1100-A pump, 2 pumps can be harder to tune as sometimes the fp will spike messing up your tune, or more things to go wrong. This is a great pump very quiet and flows great. I have posted the winzip link the other day for you. 9.2 a/f your losing mega hp.

Norbs thanks for the info. There is no doubt I have lots of room to tune which is good.

Razor by turning the knob to 6 from 4 does that increase the amount of alcohol being thrown at the motor?

Yes, it will.

I have the same motor roughly you do.when Cal an i tuned my car,We turn the knob to Max setting,I'm useing staight 93 pump gas as well, with 20psi. Next is the upgrades/updates to the XFI then more boost 8^)

Enjoy!

Put the knob on 6 and pull fuel. Get it into the mid 10's for afr and leave it alone

OK here is a GCT file and a data log run.

I seem to have plenty of room to go with boost and I am still running rich.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Good news, you got the logs up, bad news your ve numbers are too "low" Either the injectors are 83's your fp is way too high or your alky is coming on way too soon........

The fuel pressure is set at 42 which could be turned down to 38.

The alky kicks in at 10 psi and you can see where that is happening. The second fuel pump turns on at 12 psi and then I am taking out fuel to get to 11 to 1 AF ratios.

This is the only time I have seen a VE table get smaller as rpms and boost increase.

The injectors are 72 pph units.

The starter died on the car so I am looking around for a mini starter now.

More to follow.

Fuel pressure is kinda not an issue as your tuning around them.. but I will say that at 42 line on.. thats like 48-49 line off.. so at 25 PSI thats 73-74 PSI fuel which may be a problem depending on your fuel system. That is why set fuel pressure line off to 42-43 PSI and call it a day.

I also agree on the double pumper. Tuning at lower boost levels less than 20 PSI boost.. you should not even need it. I would turn them off and square away your 0-20 PSI VE tables using pump gas and the alcohol. If it leans out.. then your fuel pump is bad, bad electrical to it, bad FPR, bad filter, etc..

Sounds like the car is going to be a hell of a good time when you get it all sorted out.

Finally!!!

OK new starter is in and this is the latest run.

Cranked the spring on the wastegate in to get the boost up.

I set the second pump to come on at 20 psi so the runs are being done on the single pump and alky only that is it.

I may put the 18 lb spring in the gate. It will be easier to control than messing with the boost controller and spring adjustment. I have maxed both of them out at this point.

I am still running rich but I will leave it alone until I get to 18 to 20 psi.

Razor you are right and thanks for the info.
