I plan on porting my wastegate hole so do i take a dead blow hammer to the turbine housing to remove? is there a gasket or seal that i'll need to replace?

No it will come right off

as long as U remove the bolts that is. Try to mark exactly where the position was so ur not adjusting it when u have it back on the car.

Hit them with some PB blaster or liquid wrench for a few hours prior to removal.

Imo

You don't need to remove exhaust housing to port wastegate hole. But if you are determined to remove it and it has been on for very long.====A press is the tool you need--please no hammer.

press?? hammers???? no no no that is not the way to do it. and you dont even have to take it off the car to port the wastegate. But to remove the housing get all the bolts loose, and heat around where the bolts go into the housing, it will fall right off.

Thanks guys, i pulled off Elbow and dirt ring from puck around hole really doesnt leave me much room to port, and it lines right up..no off set, I messured hole and its about 0.900 so IM leaving it.

I was just thinking of stuffing hole and masking off with chunk of magnet to catch shavings but figured its winter, i'll pull the whole thing and dissasemble but i guess precision did it for me.

But is there any gasket between the elbow and the housing? it didnt leak when i installed last month and when i pulled old turbo and removed the elbow it didnt have gasket on as well, I see GMParts has gasket for intergrated downpipe but nothing for stock elbow, is there a thicker mill on the intregrated gasket then a stock cause if i line up puck elbow to hole its dead nuts but then if i toss a gasket into the mix my puck would ride higher unless theres a stainless steel shim gasket out there?

or i could just goob the hell outa it with some good old rtv copper and gorilla torque it down:rolleyes:

No room to port the hole because the puck in the stock elbow is tiny. ;)

I think most guys go with no gasket or some hightemp copper RTV in there.

Get a different puck or downpipe. Id soak the entire hot side not including the elbow of the turbo in PB Blaster before attempting to remove the exhaust housing. Some come off easy and some are a bitch. Let it sit overnight and you should be good. The PB Blaster is available in big cans that are 1 gallon i believe. Of the exhaust housing is pitted it can be milled flat as well as the elbow and no gasket is needed there.

Thanks again,

I decided to Not remove my housing and I put a Que into Jason about his puck assembly. My elbow has 3inch outlet and DP is postons 3 inch two peice in which i welded.

I really would like to go with the high dollar option but i just opened up my wallet and a bat flew out.:frown:

Next 2 questions:
On my elbow can I remove that ramp? at least shave it down and taper it off.
And EGT pre turbo in O2 Bung and O2 post turbo? or should i pull header and weld another bung? ----- i cant afford wideband right now
