I have an 86 gn that im replacing the engine on. I have a set of ported irons with 177/150 stainless valves ported and polished. a 210-205 cam, and for now a pt54 with 42.5 injectors. The car has a 3800 stall westcoasts converter that felt tight more like a 3400 but nevertheless when purchased was supposed to be a 3600-3800 stall 10 inch non locking. The converter is like new but I was thinkig about getting it restalled. I will be going with a 6175 or 6775 turbo as the last upgrade. The car is a daily driven car, so i want to find a middle ground btw performance and gas efficiency. i was thinking lik a 2800-3000 stall, once i get some injectors and the upgraded turbo, how well will a 2800-3000 stall converter spool up he 61 0r 67 considering it will be a full ball bearing turbo??

I would go with the 67 bb and a set of 60's if you plan on staying on the street, if not then a set of 72's.......

What chip do you have?

If no TurboTweak then.....Turbotweak:)

I will be staying on the street, and i am leaning towards the 67 bb, i need to get the alky kit, and i was actually thinking about changing the setup back to lock up.the previous owner had it set up for non lockup? is tha a bad idea? either way what stall you think would be good?

any input on the locking versus nonlocking????

Not sure...I would check with one of the trans guys to be sure...may be a answer in the trans section.

I have been asking plenty of convertor questions for my PT6776, but mines a journal bearing. Of what Ive been told, you would need @3200 for the BB turbo67, and 34-3500 for a journal.

I would normally run a lockup converter on the street, but for track a non-lockup is ok.....a non-lockup is going to spin the engine about 100 rpms more.....a 3400 stall would be about max I would go.....
