Turbo is too tight?

Picked up another GN today, motor is bad, but the turbo is supposedly rebuilt. It is hard to turn the blades though, and I honestly can't see exhaust gas being able to turn them. Theres no play in the bearings. The pan has a decent amount of bearing material in it, I'm wondering if it messed up the turbo? Its a stocker, BTW. Thanks

Sounds like the center section is locking up because of debre. It should be rebuildable though.

I would call John at limit to see excactly whats wrong with it. Im sure he could tell you plenty of stories.

My new turbos (non-ball bearing) always seem tight. But they get better. I'd keep an eye on it, but would not send it in yet. Keep a big oil filter on motor when you get it rebuilt. May be OK.
