I'm pretty sure my stock turbo is leaking oil. When I take the shield off, the turbo and top of downpipe has oil on it after running for a bit. The turbo smokes slightly on start up. Also, when I took off the downpipe, a small amount of oil had settled in the silicone hose at the top of the intercooler. I'm thinking i'm going to need a new turbo and am wondering what kind I should get.

As of now, I have 42lb injectors with matching TT chip and a DW fuel pump and hotwire kit in the box waiting to put it on. The car is mostly for the street, maybe a couple runs at the track a year, nothing much.

I'm thinking a TE44, as it'll still give me room for improvement.

TE-44 is a great choice. Your injectors are sized right for it. Just make sure the chip is burnt for this turbo and injector combo.
You should make sure the TE-44 has a Garrett .63 A/R exhaust housing on it . This will allow you to keep your stock D5 converter and will spool it well.

If that's all of your upgrades you are going to need a few more things : adjustable fuel pressure regulator, adjustable wastegate actuator, ScanMaster, boost gauge and a hood mounted fuel pressure gauge at the very least. You need to install your fuel pump and hot wire kit before anything else to get your fuel system up to par, also change your fuel filter. Don't forget,if you upgrade your turbo you are going to have to get your chip reburned for that turbo.

I vote 5857 -5858 lots of compressor opp and new wheels

X2...I have a TE44 and the exhaust side is holding me back but wouldn't be if I had a 5857 or 5858. They are the same compressor wheel size as a TE44 but with the new CEA wheels and a much better exhaust side. I've even thougt about getting rid of my TE44 and going to a 5858 just for the new wheels. TE44's are pretty affordable though at $595 new or whatever they go for now a days and will get you 120mph in the quarter.

I have all of that stuff too, just didnt list it.

So, I'm guessing if i ordered the TE44 from Gbodyparts, I'd be good? I like the price of 600 for them. I'd rather not drop a grand on a turbo yet.

If you are even thinking of upgrading for performance later, you should learn from the rest of us and only buy a part one time. I would spend the extra $400 for the 5858 now instead of spending $600 now and then down the road having to spend even more for a larger turbo. Same for injectors. If you upgrade, don't go any smaller than 60s. I could have saved a lot of money over the years if I had realized this fact and only bought go fast parts once.

What are your goals?

Precision 5858 if you have a stock converter. If you have a 2800-3200 stall go with the 6262.

I have never had a 44 my 5857 makes 0 boost @ 2200RPM .I don't know what the stock turbo was but it wasn't that low. Car pulls from a stop better than it did at 100% stock.Ill never need a another turbo ,Ive reached goal.

Pretty sure I'm going to go with the te44 when I get home. Stuck up in northern Ontario for a 11 day geology field course for school. No Internet In the cabins we're in, only on my phone about an hour hike from the nearest highway. Wish I had my car up here though, some nice roads up here. Had my GN out of storage for a week, then had to come up here

It is my understanding that the 5857 and the TE-44 are very similar. TE-44 is less expensive though.
