How will they make a V8 tow capability SUV get 28 MPG? A friend of mine just bought a Honda Accord 3 months ago and is trading it on a Civic Hybrid. He keeps telling me how its a straight up deal. So basically he ate the depreciation on the Accord which is about 7k and now is getting a lesser vehicle that will get about the same mileage. All the hybrids dont get anywhere near 60 MPG..Most I know get about 30. You can buy a lot of gas with $7k.

They'll have 50 hp worth of electric motors in the transmission and a 300 volt battery pack.

A friend of mine just bought a Prius, and the dealership touted its 50-55mpg. The best he has gotten so far is 37mpg  So now he is demanding his money back but the dealer will not give it back so he's seeking to possibly file suit with Toyota on false advertisment..this guy is very anal about everything when it comes to money but never investigates things as he should. He probably could have gotten on any automotive bulletin board and found out the real story on them before buying one.

A buddy of mine has a fuel injected Ford Festiva, yeah its a hot rod. He paid $200 for it with 50,000k miles on the odometer. Anyway, with 4 people in it, a buick v6 shortblock and a v6 crank in the back, we managed 48 mph while driving through some pretty hilly terrain on a 6 hour tour. The car is at least 15 years old, and gets much better gas milage than the hybrids i've seen.

They're selling the Mallet Solstice at a few delerships around town. Full warrenty, LS2 v8, somewhere around $40k.

I had a 82 Ford Festiva S, it had a Rabbit GTI engine and it was pretty fast for a little car. I never saw that kind of mileage but it was good on gas. My wife's 84 Civic 4dr used to get 43 mpg @ 70.

If you read Hemmings' mags you would have seen a guy with a 1987ish Honda CRX (HV I beleive is the economy model) logging 55mpg. We CAN do better, they just havent had a reason. Also, a while back in one of the Hemmings Muscles, they talked about electric motors as a performance thing - it was really cool! Think about out turbo cars w/ 400 ft/lbs at 3k getting an extra 300ft/lbs right off idle! I saw on the Discovery Channel a while back a guy made an electric drag car that pulled a 15.0 after blowing his axles .3 way down the track. The tech is there for economy/performance/towing all in one if we just use it....

Hi all, New to this forum and saw this thread, Had to post. Just finished the cage in this Solstice:

It will use the Ecotec with a big turbo. I'm not in on the turbo install, but you will be able to see it at SEMA, in the GM area from what I hear. Drove it around a little before tearing it apart. Fun car in stock form, if a bit underpowered. AMAZING how much interior and such is in these cars. Took a good day and a half to get it all apart.....
