Wanted to get a consensus on whether or not to use the turbo support bracket with a set of ATR headers. I read elsewhere that it may not be recommended to use this with 304 stainless headers due to their expansion when hot. Because of this the bracket actually may help CAUSE cracks in the headers because it may restrict their movement/growth too much.

What are your thoughts on this and how many people do NOT use a bracket regardless of headers.

TIA

Id hate to disagree but here is my experience. Every car ive seen that 60fts hard with with ATR headers and no bracket shows some sign of turbo droop!!

At full wail it would appear that the heat, shock and weight actually tilts the mounting flange towards the water pump.

I would still run the bracket. It is not directly attached to the headers and it provideds lots of support on top of the turbo.
;)

Hey Louie, your sure it's not from when your car crashed back down from that wheelie and the DP hit the control arm??? :D

Ha ha... I was seeing if you were paying attention. But My turbo stayed nice and up right because i was using the factory turbo support bracket...

I still use the bracket. I figured it not only supports the turbo it also supports the downpipe that's attached to the turbo. If it's gone the support is on the header itself...not good. I've seen many "droopy" ATR headers.

I think anything that would help support all that weight would be good  ... :p

No droopy turbo's here........My cars don't leave hard though, my best 60' is only 1.47. I'll try better with the race car soon. Gonna be nice havin a brake......... I'm still not runnin the bracket.
