Gotta quick question, I am swapping from stock to TE44, question is, the new turbo has the heavy duty actuator, is there anything I need to do to make this work on the stock ECM setup, I have no aftermarket boost controller or anything like that. Any other hints/tips would be great as well. I am soaking the bolts now, going out of town for 2-3 weeks so they will have plenty of soak time.
TIA

Leave the wastegate arm as loose as you can, min. boost will probably be around 18psi.

Get some good octane gas or mix.

Your are going to get spike with the hv dty act. I am going through this now, just installed a hvy duty act last sat and the minimum setting with a line straight from the comp to actuator set at minmum setting was 17-18 psi but creeps to 19 -20 and you will get knock.
So unless you are running high oct gas or additive equiv. or Alky get the low psi one.

I run a TA-49 with the HD actuator. I made my own boost controller and took the cumputer controlled syllinoid out of the loop. I used a vacuum relief vavle from McMaster Carr. I can run as low as 13 lf of boost. Just set the actuator where it seals good and adjust when the check ball for the relief valve opens up to apply boost to the actuator.
