I could use some solid advice in deciding whether to use a Turbo Timer/Boost controller, or go with an HKS gate. I'll be using a PTE TE-63E, V1 FM, a F.A.S.T system, and all the necessary performance stuff for going low 10's. My turbo dosen't have a flapper valve, as I was originally going to use an HKS gate, but if a turbo timer will controll the boost as well as a gate, then I'd rather use it. Also, if I do use a turbo timer, then what mods have to be done to my turbo, and who makes the most reliable for the money?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The HKS Turbo Timer does nothing to regulate boost. I know, I have one installed in my T. It does provide an automated cool down phase by running the car after you turn off the ignition.

The BOV/atmospheric Wastegate will help you better regulate your boost. However, only so many models are adjustable from inside the cockpit.

John Craig seems to be the most reputable guy for turbos these days... do a search on him.

HTH,

an external wastegate will control boost better than a turbo timer simply b/c a turbo timer's job is not to control boost!:D a turbo timer simply runs the car for a bit after you shut it off so as to let the turbo spool down and oil temp to cool so you dont coke the bearings in the turbo.
