Isn't this the same pump Racetronix is selling? Says e85 will reduce life expectancy.
No, its not! Nor is it the Pumps you listed. I have two of the TT pumps in use on E85 cars that see a lot of street time. Even in the cold here in Chicago no problems so far. Now, the Areomotive intank pumps have been failing. Google them and see for yourself.
Racetronix- If I buy a pump from you and it fails, do you send me a replacement or am I without it until Walbro/ Areomotive sends me a pump after they test mine to see why it fails?
Racetronix said:A few AM pumps have been failing mostly b/c customers do not install them properly.
The 430 and 340LPH pumps must have upgraded wiring to handle their high power demands and larger fuel lines to handle their high fuel volume.
Running these pumps on low voltage (stalling the armature) or into restrictive lines (excessive head pressure) will cause them to fail quickly.
Just recently we sent out a replacement AM340 pump to a customer so he could repair his DP before AM had the chance to evaluate his pump.
It turned out that the brushes were worn down b/c the pump had been working at very high pressures b/c his lines were excessively restrictive.
AM ended up covering his pump under warranty even through it had nothing to do with a manufacturer's defect.
We will replace any pump up front once a tech has determined that some basic pressure and voltage tests are done to isolate the problem to the pump.
We do not hand out replacement pumps as a means for customers to do A/B tests b/c they are simply unwilling to spend a bit of time diagnosing their problem.
For example, three customers today were adamant that their pumps were defective b/c 'the factory pump worked fine before'.
Customer #1 had a leak in the tank b/c he tightened the hose clamp too tightly and it cut through the hose.
Customer #2 bought the wrong pump and allowed the jet-feed to flow freely into the tank.
Customer #3 had a defective regulator that was bleeding down.
If a customer buys our RXP340M pump and installs it in a factory-type sender contrary to our advice then there is no warranty.
If a customer buys our RXP340M and installs it in our G7 AN sender with proper wiring and feed lines then we will guarantee the pump.
We do not cover customer negligence.
Would it be covered if used exclusively in E85 and there are no signs of negligence?

Interesting discussion! I'm sure many are watching / looking and appreciate a manufacturer's prompt responses! Damned fine vendor!
I would assume if one were to purchase a complete DP setup (with the hanger, sender, wiring harness, and everything) from R/T that it would have the wiring upgrades already installed?
Anxiously awaiting the dummy-proof teflon lines to be available to match the -8AN feed / -6AN return setup on the sender!!!
The fuel system is not an area I mess around with.
How many tanks of E85 have you ran with your Walbro pumps?Thank you Racetronix for explaining the technical side of pump failure. Detailing why each of the 3 pumps failed is priceless. Most folks don't understand how a "fuel system" operates. You just cannot slap a big pump on an otherwise stock fuel system and expect to get max performance and life. Unfortunately, some get away with it and tell everyone that they don't have to do the upgrades to the rest of the system.
