Interesting...

One funny gist of that article is the fact that they're talking primarily about turbo 4-cylinders taking the place of 'gas guzzling' V6 engines. Buick's idea was similar in the 70's when they got on the turbo bandwagon but wanted the turbo V6 to replace the 'gas guzzling' V8s. :p
 
Too bad the average consumer isn't interested. I think turbos got a bad rep early on and it stuck (Kinda like people who think they MUST change the oil every 3 months or 3000 miles). Oh well... just like the Asians/Europeans continue to dominate us. Remember back in the day everyone laughed at hopped-up Hondas? Now look the import market is exploding with parts.

Just?, 6-7 percent.
What do they want?, 8-9 percent.
That's a huge number, IMO.

Lots of clever wording was also used. ie turbo 4s at the expense of larger 6s. That ignores the cars that only come with 4s that use the T/C as an option.

Maybe their rehearsing for writting for Blather.
 
There have also been studies that show a large percentage of people don't know if their car is RWD or FWD. If it were marketed properly (this car gets 30MPG and has a top speed of 130MPH) then there might be some interest. Sad but true, the mentality of the average testosterone junkie is V8 oriented since that's what they grew up with. Cops in the 70s used to talk about their "Fo-Foatys".
 
Hmm.. more turbocharged cars = more people being dumb asses with their cars and taking it to the shop.
