I was thinking of trying to get an old scantool but then I remembered about turbolink. I was wondering how many guys with hotairs run turbolink and how many run scantools? Whats better for our applications?

Turbolink is a scantool. All scantools pretty much do the same thing, interpret data from the ECM. However, all scantools are definately not created equal. TLink or Directscan would probably be considered your best scantools. I have TLink and like it. If you already have a laptop, I would definately look into it. Or directscan. Compare the features of each.
The other scantool that I would recommend would be ScanMaster. I like having a SM even with TLink because it is small and can just sit on your dash. You dont always want to be lugging your laptop around, but its nice to have info right in front of you whenever you need it. ScanMaster will give you that and it supplies all the major data that you need to see. You can tune with SM but there is no substitute for the laptop based scantool when you really want to get into it. The ability to playback runs is a irreplaceable tool. Not sure about the others, but I know TLink has a website. I believe there is a comparison of scantools on the site. Ken Mosher (TLink) is great to talk to for any assitance. Plus he is a TR guy. You'll find some of his posts in the other forums, mostly helping people out. Especially in the scantool/tuning section. Do some searches also, in the tech forum and the scan tool forum.
Do some comparisons, ask more questions/get more feedback and then decide on what best suits you. Just my $.02 :)
