How do I turn the boost up on a 85 t type.....Its boosting around 8 lbs right now.....First turbo car!! lol....But im gettin the hang...I have a boost controller but its either not hooked up right, or its broken, and im leaning towards broken....

gotta scan tool? do lots of research or you'll go BOOM BOOM.

what all modifications do you have?

No scan tool yet......Pretty much stock....Its just a toy, If it goes boom, it'll just give me a reason to build it!!! LOL....They can boost a lot higher then 8 lbs without problems though, Cant they?

Yeah, I know the guy I bought it from said his mechanic turned the boost down so he wouldn't blow it up.....It rides out though at 8 lbs.....Very surprised at the cars power....Ive owned mustangs my whole life so this is definetely new to me.....Can't I turn the wastegate rod to increase the boost?

#1- research
#2 - scantool
#3 - boost up = fun

if you don't work it in the right steps it is:
#1- boost up
#2- BOOM
#3- expensive = @#$%

each car is different, each car can handle a different amount of boost.

putting a turbotweak chip in will do wonders (off the shelf).

IMHO, GM did a great job of putting these motors together. no sense in wasting a good motor.

Good answer.....I guess ill get a scan tool !! But not sure what tt chip to get.....They want all the mods and what not but I don't know which way I want to go with it....

No scan tool, no knock gauge, lack of knowledge= John lee Hooker said it right-BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM. Been there and done it and I am not going back. My 2 cents. Brad

Stock boost on hotairs was 12-13 depending on how accurate your gage is. All 5 that I have had were dead on at 13psi. I had 4 of them running 17psi with Joe Lubrandt chips and my 85 GN at 25psi with a 100octane Thrasher. If the orifice is gone out of the Y connector, it will boost way low. My Dr Pepper car did this. Never found where the little orifice went but made a new Y connnector and back to 17psi no problems for 10 years.

i really don't think stock HA cars came set over 10lbs. and i'd be scared to mess with it until i what it was doing. then turn it up what you can and have fun.
