TV cable issues

So when I bought the car the trams. Alway seemed like it was not hitting the gears solid almost like it was ready to give up the ghost! So after ready on TV cable adjustments I found that I had a lot of Slack so I adjusted it back about 3/8"
This brought the end of the cable about 1/16" from the throttle body arm. I took it out and it shifts at 3300 and hits hard? I adjusted back to where it was and now there is no change? 3300 1st to 2nd and long shifts. Any suggestions as to what I should do next?

Yes. You should set it properly and leave it alone once it's there. Set it so the cable travel maxes out at the exact point that wide open throttle is achieved on the throttle body.

The tv cable needs to be set correctly so your trans can achieve max tv at wot. This will enable the tv valve to raise the pressure as the throttle is opened.

Sounds like my car when I got it. The TV line up was all wrong. Basically, it had a carb TV plunger spring in it with a TransGo TV valve spring line up. A real mess. Have a thread on how to set up the TV lineup correctly here.

I didn't go into much of what was originally in there, just what I used/did to correct it.
