I have been adjusting tv cable and cannot get good shift .I move less than 1 rib and it shifts very hard 44 mpg to go 2 to 3 then I move back less than 1 rib and it is soft. almost to soft 2 to 3 anyone know why or is this normal??

Don't know what the mileage is on your transmission or how old is the TV cable. These cable do stretch in times and this could in time might effect the shift point.

At one point I try to adjust the TV cable and I could not get the right setting. Only to find out the cable was kink inside the TV cable housing. So I started fresh with a new cable, and used the GM recommended setting, all was shifting great.

Look into this site as this will help you to adjust the TV cable, and it will give you theGM recommended setting.

If the cable slide back and forth easy then that's okay, but you need to see if the cable has stretch if any.
Here are two board venders who has this cable and maybe you can give them a call and ask what is the length measurement. I forgot what the measurement was so I don 't want to guess and give you the wrong measurement, unless someone else can chime in and tell you what the measurement are.

There's only one correct TV cable setting. TV cable should max out at the exact point that the throttle blade hits WOT. No more, no less. More will cause unnecessary stress on the cable, less will not give full line pressure at WOT and will burn it up. If it's not shifting right with that TV setting, there is something else wrong.

This would be correct!!!!!!!!! X2

The TV cable will max out at the exact point that the throttle blade hits WOT even if the TV cable is stretch. That is why I subjected for him to get the right measurement to compare with his present TV cable. If the length is correct then go to the this site as I indicated on thread #2 to get the correct GM recommended setting.

I had 2 transmissions that had hard, delayed 2-3 shifts at part throttle, fine at WOT. Didn't matter what I did with the TV cable unless I made it way too loose. One was the original that lasted me 160,000 miles, the other was a TCI that lasted 18 months.

I now have an Extreme Automatic Stage 2 which has dual feed (I don't even know what that is!) which makes the 2-3 shift crisp and quick without being hard and it's not delayed.
