Have the car down at Lou's for something then I decided I wanted him to take a look about my cars oil pressure issues. Good thing I did. Looks like the motor already had two feet in the grave!

Yikes, you had a Mr Clean eraser and bottle of Armor All in there? No wonder your oil pressure was off!

Just kidding. Any idea yet as to what happened?

Lou says detonation issues. I believe him. I know my friend who owned the car before me did push it hard a bit on pump gas.

yeah, and that was with steel caps, & arp studs. one step before kabooom

....but you know what causes that damage to the bearings, right?
Yup.....shredded bumper fillers do it....

Wish that was in the cards, don't have the budget. Working with Lou on something though.

Lol. I have the fronts and the spoolfool back to put on, just haven't had time to get them painted yet :p

Those bearings look pretty rough. I think you might have found the source of that knocking sound you were worried about. :(

Yep, considering it almost spun one of the mains. Damage to the bearings looks very similar to when the budget roller took out the motor last time. Here is a pic of one of the bearings in it's maincap from then. What Lou showed me yesterday is the same.

That engine was detonated many times over 500hp. There's a lot of metal transfer on the caps from the block. I'm surprised you didn't gear low rpm high load knocking. The bearings are distorted and acting as oil scrapers.

Not sure how much power the car really made. With the setup before this (from the previous rebuild) the car turned a best of 124mph in the 1/4. i'm sure it was detonated pretty hard as my friend was a bit slow to notice it and get out of it when he would drive it on the street.

This motor when we ran it at BG many years ago in street trim (117-119mph in the 1/4 runs) there was no knock showing on turbolink. I remember the oil pressure being a bit on the low side when he put it away (before it sat for over 8 years).

The car had a tick at idle I couldn't find, much above idle you couldn't hear it.

No # main bearing was distorted so bad from being pounded that it no longer came in contact with the locking tang. All the bearing were beat up & into the copper backing. I have Chris's motor installed & running, waiting for an A/C delete pulley. Once it's finished he will be another of my aborted offspring sons that I will be keeping on a short leash. :D
