Under hood light

Can someone tell me the correct bulb # to use for the underhood light on an 86 GN? I have seen bulb #93 and bulb #1003 as the correct bulb. Not sure which is the correct one. Thanks.

I installed a brake light bulb to make it 10 times brighter under the hood of my car.

1156 or 1157 i cant remember off the top of my mind which socket is under the hood of the car.

Just try it and you will be happy.

I would bet that either one will fit since both numbers end in three. My 85 bulb says T67 CHINA 3L. 2 cents. Brad

The correct bulb is the #93.

If you're looking for something brighter I bet you can find an LED that replaces the 1156.

I saw in some literature that the correct bulb is a #89. Any thoughts.

I got the #93 out of the parts catalog. I guess the only way to be 100% for sure is to look at an original. Sounds like a job for one of the GNX guys. The number is printed somewhere on the bulb.

89's are about half the current draw .5A vs. 1.05A and about half the brightness of the 93 lamp.

I use the 89's since they are more readily avialable, gonna try a 93 in the trunk if I can find one.

I take the lamp out from the under the hood fixture anyway since it's open a lot.

What is wrong with using a brake light bulb?

That stock light is weak, you can hardly even see under the hood of the car with it.

Nobody else here does this?
