Wow, after a drive yesterday i popped the hood and the temps under there were way hot. i even wrapped part of the dp, but i am concerned with the alky resavoir/bottle. i could hardly touch it.
it is so hot you cannot hold the a/c dryer, you can touch but not for long...

thinking of putting a starter blanket around alky bottle

ur thoughts

One of those first simple mods was to remove the weather strip from the cowl area to help the engine compartment vent. Even on the GNX's they added the fender vents to help evacuate hot air.

Can it hurt to put thermal blanket material on the tank?? no. Will it hurt?? no. Is it needed??.. great question and if the tank is getting small bubbles inside of it, then insulation. would be a good idea.

Post back..

hello; Under hood temps amazes me also. I going to try a few things to help and that is with coating a few parts. It a wonder things don't just melt under there.

I cut the hood seal to fit around the a/c inlet. [I added a small alum deflector w/ some of the seal glued to it to complete the seal @ the wiper area.]
That way, the hot air is still excluded from the a/c intake.
And folks wonder why their IATs are thru the roof with under hood K&N's....

hello; I'd like to here more feed back on the subject. As for me it's a 160 degree and a griffin alum. rad. I know I'll here something on that. But the TB has a very hot engine bay and I don't know how they hold up. The GNX ventings got to be a plus but I don't want to cut the fenders. I might change my mind in the future. Who knows. For now I'm going to try coating. Funny people talk about heat soak and that engine bay can be a soaker.

thanks forf the replys/advice yea i run a 160* too and a gn1 alum rad. i am ordering a starter blankie tonight for my baby...lol
no bubbles but just don't like it that hot.

i bought a set of the gnx vents from ebay but they didnt look too good with my fresh paint so we opted not to use them. unless i can get some better ones not flimsy double faced tape junk.

also would like a pic of the a/c cowl thing you did as well

thx

hello; That a/c cowl thing was done by Chuck Leeper and I'd like to see it also.
