I just upgraded to the the ls1 an and translator now I have I see some very small sparks going from the alternator to the alternator pulley. What can be causing this? cause I know it's not right thanks for all your help!!!!

Holy crap! I've never heard of that

Sounds like you need an alternator!

The case is a ground as it's bolted to the engine. If it's throwing sparks to the pulley it much be extremely hot. There's probably lots of AC ripple, EMF and/or RFI going on. I'm wondering if you've found the reason for your diabolical gremlins?

I hope I found the problem !! Has anyone else hear of or seen this ? From the scanmaster it seems like it's charging ......the car still has the sputter that comes and goes erratically with no warning . This is after the new maf, translator, heated o2 sensor, and a tt chip that's in the mail now. and I still have this prob what should I look at me what should I look at next, but i hope it doesn't go that far tho...........

Is that the original alternator on your car? Once you get all those 26 year old parts off there you are going to like that car.

Stop enjoying the fireworks and get rid of that thing!!!!

ok , i just got off the road a few days ago. replaced the alternator cause it tested bad. car run good for a day then the same thing happened...... a very tiny spark jumping from the alt to the belt ! what can be going on with this problem ? I ordered a extended ground kit from gbody. please give me your take on this ...... ohh and the same studder idle and studder at 10 psi boost.

It's possible the new alternator has a short in it, and you might want to have the auto store where you brought it from have them check it out.
I see you have a hot-wire kit, check the connection on the back of the alternator and make sure there is no piece of wire from the positive terminal is not touching any ground metal.

Is it possible to video (cell phone or camera that has movie) your engine where the spark is and then post it on the forum for us to analyze it?

ok, i been trying to take a video of the sparks with no luck . you can only see them when its pitch dark cause they are so small. I did get the ground kit from Gbody and did get the stock ground wires to extend to the terminal that i installed to the firewall. The other reason why i didn't cut the harness is cause i don't know how to solder. Anyways i put one of the ends to the intake and the short side to the firewall, and the result is that the car still acts up with the weird idle and the sputtering while under boost. it doesn't do it all the time but it happens off and on. When it does happen i do notice that the O2's drop under 100 and stay there for a while, i don't know if this means anything, but i need help bad !!! i really don't know what else to do........

just went out to test it.... while trying to go WOT my O2's fell to 000, and the car fell on it face under boost. I know someone can help me with this. and i will be getting a power logger soon!!! I've been playing the guessing game for too long.

Sounds like more than one problem. Or one problem causing more than one issue.

The ground extenders don't do squat. The negative battery cable goes from the battery to the engine block. That makes the engine the main ground for the entire system. Unless it's not making a good connection. By adding grounds from the block to the body is just making body grounds better. It does nothing for the engine ground.

Trace the main ground wire from the battery to the engine block. Make sure it's tight and connected to the block and not the turbo shield or some other cheesy location.

Also trace the positive cable to the to the starter and make sure its not grounding on the header. Many times i have seen the positive cable burnt by the headers and shorting out. It will short more when under wot due to the motor torquing to the side.

That's a couple things you can check.

ok, checked the power to the starter -check . Ran a ground strap to the batt neg -check. Can this problem be caused by the coil pack or module ? That's the parts I replaced when this started ......

Is it possible when you replaced the coil ignition module wires might be pinching against the cover?
