V6 Turbo In Aus

Your engine is a Series II V6 which is pretty different from our older engines. You do have the advantage of better heads and a stronger block but the main modifications for it could probably be found more in the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP boards or the V6 Camaro Boards. Though I'm sure people here could help you size a turbo for such a vehicle but as far as internal mods, probably best left to the L67 W-body guys running the GTP and the Buick Regal GS.
Oh and we don't think in kW, try Horsepower. For us when you talk kW, you're talking lightbulbs and radiostations.

Trying to be helpful,

If your engine will hold up, it comes down to the basics ..........

Crank up the boost and find a way to monitor knock .......... then add alky injection, turn up the boost some more and get a good chip. :D

Those engines don't use chips, they are OBDII engines with flash memory onboard. Monitoring knock is realtively easy, they make gauges and scanner that plug right into the OBDII/ADDL port however the engine is currently set up to run a supercharger not a turbosupercharger. It can be done and some of the GTP guys have done it but I don't know much about how.

Understood. Just may need to look at the drive for the blower.

am i crazy (dont answer that) but i think you can get a Lightening SC on those motors, that maybe something to look in to as well. what about an after cooler?

I think the problem is more with the intake and the electronics. The front accessory drive is the same as the rest of the Series II V6's they just add a different front crank pulley with an extra set of 5 grooves to run the supercharger with a seperate belt. The intake is way different with the injectors in the heads and the lower manifold only really matching up to an M90. The L67 turbo conversions I've seen either run L36 heads and intake or use what ammounts to the supercharger case without the guts as an upper plenum. I don't know if the computer map is capable of dealing with the non linear booste responce of a turbo compared to the rpm dependent booste of the supercharger. That is what I want to hear more about as I would like to run the electronics from an L67 on my 4.1 LC2.

Some serious people have put an Eaton M116 on a Series II but that takes quite a bit of messing with on the manifold end of things and I don't know what they are doing for electronics to control them. As far as the after cooler, they make them in kit form and I've heard they are marginal to good as far effectiveness, not a whole lot of surface area to use to cool the air down with.

go to gtpworld.com, there are a bunch of them running turbo on their front wheel drive cars

Hi,
You might check Thrasher, they are bigtime into supercharged series II Buicks. Last time I checked, they had their test mule GTP way down into the 12s.Torque steer becomes a problem at that level.Don't know about the Australian vehicles, is yours rear drive? Anyway, Thrasher sells an intercooler setup, lots of money. I would advise that you retain the supercharger, many advantages. For peak power, you can't beat a turbo, but your engine uses blower specific heads, which could be a help or a hindrance, depending on how you go. I have an '96 Riviera, and besides a 3.5 inch pulley, it's stock.Shut off the traction control, and it'll smoke the tires for a block! What are you looking for? I think Thrasher is your best bet. Do a search, think they are known as thrasher-ep. Good luck!
