OK, race fans, splain this one to me.
2nd set of Valve springs that I've broken.
First was with the cast roller cam kit, and now these Comp Cam Springs (980
or 960s, as I recall).

Engine NEVER had been over 5,400 RPM and currently has a Crane 206/206
Hydrallic Roller.
Different cylinders each time.

Yes, I at times (ie way too often), let it all hang out for mins atta time (meaning high gear 5,000 RPM for 3-4 mins), so they do get a good workout, but the oil temps are reasonable, so they
shouldn't be overheating, OR are they?.

Any one have any ideas for a replacement spring or are these about as goodas it gets, and I need to increase the upper end oiling.

I need to get replacements from Jegs Tomorrow, so I'm ham strung on options, and could use a BTDT, or another point of view.

Yes the preloads are right.

TIA
Bruce

Are the springs you've got now comparable to the recommended springs for that cam? I would have thought that a hydraulic roller would need more spring than a CC 980. I seem to remember the PT&E econo cam I had called for... 110# on the seat maybe? Anyway, I'd get a spring recommendation from the cam manufacturer.

Ya, that's the wrong spring.

Those are probably way light for a roller IMO. Also check the pushrods, you may want to upgrade the exh side at least (big time) once you get the right springs on it.

I might have a good set of springs and retainers for you if interested.
