Hi guys. I wanted to watch this movie but I am confused as to which one to buy. I think there are three versions the orginial. another with jason preiesley and last one with two choppers on the cover. Which one is the best?
Thanks
Sal

Great movie the original

The bulldozer scene they actually used /destroyed Camaros not any Challengers when they filmed that crazy ending. Kowalski what a way to go pedal to the metal. Man you can't stop rooting for Kowalski he tears it up. Man he came so close.

I didn't know about the camaro thing. I heard that they had 8 Challenger R/T's and destroyed all of them during the filming. And for the last scene they cobbled together all the "good" parts of the wrecked cars and made a nineth. Then they smashed into the bulldozer.

My favorite scene includes a motorcycle...can you guess what else it includes?

Yeah is was plainly a camro that was against the dozer. And yes get the first one

I have the original. Great movie. I agree, it's a Camaro crashed into the dozer.

In the original when they go over state line covertly to get another oil pan to replace the damaged one I think it was for a 426 hemi. However in some seens you can cleary see 440 badging. I am sure they crashed some crap camaro and saved the nice high dollar challenger R/T's. I was at a hobby shop and seen different model cars of the vanishing point challenger R/T one had 440 badging and one had 426 hemi badging. Either way that is one of my favorite movies off all time.

The second movie all the garage scenes are filmed at my shop Green Valley Auto here in arizona, the opening of the movie has me walking by a table. I even received a W2 from Fox for my BIG scene. I had to close the shop for about 4 days while they filmed, they paid me $4,000 a day and they put in a bunch of over head lights to improve the lighting and left them all after they were done filiming! Bonus! Vigo is a short little dude, they actually barrowed a pillow from our office couch for him to sit on so he could see over the wheel on the Challanger.

i liked the one made for TV. " we're not gonna catch him in that dog pie chevy, you need a mopar to catch a mopar"

Don't waste your time with the Made for TV Jason Priestley debacle, total crap with a bogus new plot about a pregnant wife and using Jason Priestly as a replacement of "Super Soul" is just plain wrong.

Jason Priestley seems like an ok guy but he was totally miscast in this role just like he had no business being in an Infiniti Pro Series race car - both experiments ended up about the same IMHO.

I liked the original...

But anyway...where are you from exactly?? I grew up in Shaler. Off of Elfinwild RD to the right if you're going south on Route 8. I left a few years ago but my brother is still down there. And why haven't I seen your Stage 1 before?

Its funny thing because after watching Death Proof,I pick up the original Vanishing Point,Two-Lane Blacktop and Dirty Mary/Crazy Larry. The original is the best for your buck.

Actually the challenger used in the movie was taken from the set in the condition it was in with dirt and all and stored it, if I remember correctly I last saw the car at Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Museum in Sevierville, TN. That was years ago though. Hard the dirt and all still, even a cardboard box under it to catch leaks... :)

Edit: all of the other version after 71 were garbage... I think I saw one of them where the guy lived, It's been a while since i've seen the original but im almost 100% that kowalski dies in the ending crash...

I read a big article on the making of the original 1971 version of 'Vanishing Point'. They used 383 automatics for the 'camera' cars and Kowalski's car was a 440(pistol grip 4-speed of course). NO Hemi's were used as they were on a budget. They got the cars right off the dealers lot!! And yes, they did use a stripped out white 69 Camaro for the crash scene. The director didn't want to crash the Challenger!! Thought that was pretty cool. Awesome movie!!

Speaking of music don't forget to look for Delaney and Bonnie as well as Rita Coolidge as gospel singers. :p :D

Coolest cult movie ever made.

Dean Jaeger was hilarious, and the chick driving the bike naked also helped move the action along. ;)

Get the uncut version.
