VDO gauges fogging inside??

Anyone ever had problem with VDO gauges fogging inside??

My oil and water gauge are both electric and couple minute after i started the car, the inside lense get foggy.

It does go away when the car is off........

Should have bought Autometer like I always do

Mine sometimes do the same thing. I think it's the difference between the temp inside the gauge and the temp in the car.

Same here every once in awhile they will fog up a bit and clear up.

I assume they are in the gauge pod below the radio. Check the heater core. Mine did the same thing once when the A/C was set to heat, heater core was bad

Yes both are under the radio.
Heater was changed about two year ago.

Depending on the outside temperature, humidity, air flow to the gauge, and gauge placement in a panel, other gauges can fog. Usually the gauge fogs when the inside and outside temperatures of a gauge change drastically.

Such a change occurs when the gauge is first turned on. The meter movement of the gauge heats the moist air inside while air outside the glass remains cooler, and the gauge fogs.

I bet it goes away eventually. Right?

there is no diffrence in temperature today.
Its sunny and 20C outside and 18C in the garage.

Did a little run today, small one like 5 minutes and the water did fogged but not the oil pressure

It does go away, but its annoying.

Should have bought Autometer like I always do

My Autometers did that too when I had the oil psi and water temp gages mounted under the radio.

I have the same gauges and the same problem. It comes and goes but it is annoying like you said.

I was looking at autometer electric gauges but the full sweep gauges are pretty pricey. I guess I'll stick with the VDO's for now.

Have the VDO water and oil electrics as well in the same spot..... they fog too....

funny that the caspers knock, and autometers I have that are the same size in other pods dont....
