My VSS went out and the new VSS arrived this week. My issue is that I am not quite sure how to actually install the new sensor.

Initially I tried to install the new one the other day, but I couldn't figure how to get to the bad sensor without damaging anything else.

I took down the dash and unscrewed all visible screws that I assumed needed to be unscrewed, but I still was unable to get to the VSS.

Does anybody have any knowledge of what I have to do to successfully replace the VSS?

Is there an instruction guide or anything else floating around that can help me out?

Thanks

Subscribed. I'm trying to piece a Regal dash together from different sources. I think I have all the pieces, and have the VSS, but no reference to use for a visual guide. Can you post a pic?

I'm pretty sure its bolted to the back of the instrument cluster, with a 5mm or 5.5 mm socket. you have to unbolt the dash pad and the cluster, you also have to disconnect the speedo cable by the powermaster/master cylinder to have the slack and and pull the cluster far enough out to unbolt it.

In my case, I bought the dash from one source, the dash harness came from the donor car, and the VSS I got off this board. The dash is still on the bench, so access isn't a concern, I just don't know where the VSS is supposed to go. Sorry to hijack premier.

Update...

Alright, I was able to get to the VSS and replace it with the new one, thanks to you guys helping me here on the forum.

Now the issue that I am having is that the Speedometer on the dash or the Scanmaster is still not working. I'm not sure what could be the problem, I installed the new VSS the same way the old VSS was installed.

Anybody have any ideas as to what could be the root of the problem as to why the new VSS isn't working?

Thanks
