i am in the process of wiring in a autometer dash and i have converted into a electronic speedo which uses a hall effect sensor at the transmission to send a signal to the new speedo.

now my problem is that i now need to send that signal back out of the speedo and into the vss buffer, but which wire do i connect it to???

correct me if i am wrong, but the original vss on the back of the dash sent out a 16 pulse signal into the vss box, which then converted it into a 2pulse signal for the ecu? is that correct.

please help. i need to get this dash finished.

umm, what i really want to know is what each of the three wires are going to the light unit on the back of the speedo. they are green, red, and black. i think the red is 12v, black is ground, and green is the singal TO the vss buffer, but i would like a verification.

John, thank you very much, this clears some things u, but i still do not know what to do.

the hall effect sender that i have bolted to the tranny is 16pulse/rev. now, your article states that the singal output sends out 2pulse/revoution into the buffer box.

so this is my problem. should i hook up my singal output into the green wire before the buffer box, or the brown wire after the buffer box??

If your sender is 16 pulse, it won't work directly. You will need:

Casper's Electronics, Inc.: VSS Convertor

This converter doesn't use the original VSS buffer. It's designed to interpret the signal directly from the sender, and convert it to a signal that the ECM uses.

You will need additional parts to get the cruise to work as well, since it also uses the 2 pulse signal.

crapola, so you are telling me there is no way i can get it to work without buying the casper's box??
