Chris,
I'm going to be a pain in the a$$ here but, I'm not ready to buy anything yet! Sorry, but I need more info first. I'm patient and wacky enough to have built a hybrid, so you gotta understand that I'm the kind of guy that needs to understand why and know specifics, before I jump into anything. I'm not happy with just bolting on parts.
Not slagging you at all Chris, but on one hand, I'm told that a 2800 stall converter from a full weight car will "behave differently in my lighter vehicle. It will most likely stall lower but flash higher. But then you recommend getting a 2800 stall converter?
I hope you understand my confusion.
I want to know what "actual" changes are made to a converter to fit each application?
I know I'm jumping in way over my head here, but...
Things like stator pitch for torque multiplication (is a lighter vehicle better off having a lower torque ratio (1.7) to keep from blowing off the tires off the line, but be more efficient on the top end. Or do I need a higher ratio, (2.1) for some bottom end grunt?) or is this even an option?
The relationship of rated stall to torque ratio.
Impeller pump fin angle, slippage, Rpm shift drop, etc.
This is not for Chris only! (I do appreciate your input Chris)
The rest of you tranny experts/gurus please chime in, every opinion, experience, fact, is welcome.
