Very disappointed (head work)

I had my roller rockers installed by a well known Buick guy. (thanks Dude)
After one side was already installed he discovers that other head DID NOT have the pedestals clearanced properly or much at all.
I am not the type to haggle on prices, I paid a LOT of money for these heads from a VERY WELL KNOWN BUICK guy with a big following and to say that i am disappointed is an understatement. NOT going to get into WHO it is as that does not matter at this point.

Just check triple check what ever you buy from whom ever you buy it from as any one at anytime COULD get lazy and put out a sub-par product. And yes the pedestals were lightly touched, so the any one makes a mistake does not apply here you either clearance it or not.

These heads are a few years old. And This was before you was public about your head work.
You can bet that you are getting the call when its time for the new build.

When looking at the heads you can see that they were touched just not enough.

This is why I keep a set or rollers laying around David. Even if you do them it pays to double check to make sure everything is right. It's also the first thing I do before working on the ports.

I agree with this being VERY vague. It was purposely done as i am not interested in any nut hugger's opinion.

Just double check your parts no matter the person or shops reputation.

I have had these heads on the car for a few years now So i am not going to ask for a credit or any type of reimbursement I will simply NEVER give them my business again.

How much does it cost to pull a head not including labor?

If all you want to do is clearance the pedestals you don't need to pull the heads David. There is at least 1 DIY post on one of the boards showing how to do it on the car.

Charlie's right David, (can't believe I said that ) no real need to remove,just take extra measures to ensure no shavings get into the engine. But removing them is the safest.

the rockers are in and the car is running great.
the clearancing (if thats a word) was done on the rockers. And I already put over 65 miles on them.
So life is good again.

Easy or not is not the point, The shop was PAID to do the job.

Don't worry about anything from coach. If they were his it's legit, and if it's not he will make it right.

Good advice. I remember Dave told me he paid extra to get this work done from this well known engine shop. Good you got the rockers installed; I would have added clearance to the heads instead of the rockers. But it's done now. Should have gone with the champions dude......

Race Ported Heads is a touchy subject. Always make sure you know the person before you buy or get work done by them.
I have re-done Heads from so called RACE Shops that I would use as Door stoppers...
IMO their alot of Head Porters, but few good ones.

FYI not race ported it was a simple clearancing of the pedestals for roller rockers.
These heads came from a well known big reputation BUICK shop, I would need a Flame suit strong enough to suppress the sun if i named the shop.
